NVIDIA 4000 Series

Interesting.

Colorful too.

One big question remaining for the 40xx series... Where is the 4080Ti ?

Also with how cut down the 4090 is I suspect that should have been the real 4080Ti and a real 4090 with more cores or a fully unlocked chip, but they sold that last gen with a 2% increase in cores for $2000 as the 3090Ti FE and that didn't go down well as we remember.

Why is the 4080Ti still MIA...? We have had an 80Ti since the 780Ti.. Before that all full chip 80 class cards were just xx80's and no Ti, then also the Titans that played the so called top cards that were either cut down chips or full chips as it depended on Nvidia's mood.. As we remember with the Titan X and then Xp nonsense.

I'm back to seriously considering swapping my 7900 xtx for a 4080 super. Main reasons being RT performance in 4k and thinking of getting a Quest 3 to get back into sim racing. My understanding from what I've read is that the Nvidia cards are better than the AMD cards for VR. Pretty sure I can get a decent amount for the AMD card so shouldn't cost much for the side grade hopefully. Some of these super cards are the same size as the 7900 so should fit nicely into the 011 mini.

Should cost you about £350ish to switch over considering the current s/h prices of the XTX Nitro (unless you get a s/h 4080).

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Now that there are several smaller form factor cards it certainly makes it easier. Still tempted to maybe get a vertical mount and get the white gigabyte card though. That or the zotac as it will fit in normal position.

Anyone have any thoughts between:
Zotac super trinity
MSI Gaming X Slim
Gigabyte Aero OC (would have to be vertical)
Seems mixed reviews on all of them - anyone one here vouch for one over another?

if any i would choose the gaming x slim, i dont own the exact card but i replaced my 7900 xtx with a msi suprim x 4080s and couldn't be happier, msi out of the 3 is my pick, better warranty and support.

TBH I thought people on here would be holding off a couple more months for the new cards rather than picking up an almost EOL 4080S, but each to their own.

the threat of next gen being stupidly expensive is very very real, dont know what labour will do with taxes and spending but that discussion is for another time, my xtx kept crashing so i needed a replacment, and the 80s did the job :)

Ah, it’s a bit different when needs must.

When you’re existing card dies you don’t have a whole lot of options if you want to carry on gaming.

Can’t see the next gen cards being massively more expensive though, just the usual Nvidia bump in pricing I suspect.

Nvidia will need there head looking at if the 5090 is more than £1600, on amd's next gen side all the rumors point to next gen performance between the xt and xtx we have now, so the 4080s i have will still be up there, all i do now is gaming so i wont need the cutting edge tech even though its a nice to have, we need prices to come back to 1080ti/3080 levels to make the whole gpu maket exciting again.
