NVIDIA 4000 Series

tbh that might be enough to just keep the 4090 a bit longer. the new 2 fake frames only looks useful for 180hz+ screens

Ironically while dlss3 frame generation uses a hardware optical flow pipeline, dlss4 frame Gen uses a software AI model

This means in all likelihood, dlss4 with the 4x multi frame generation can run on RTX4000 and 3000 GPUs but Nvidia blocks it in software. There is no new hardware on the RTX5000 GPUs that restricts 4x frame generation to only the new cards, it's purely Nvidia greed

How long will it take for modders to mod the dlss files to unlock 4x frame Gen for all RTX cards? :D

40 series getting the new DLSS updates too, just not MFG obviously, but more fps, lower latency, better image quality all coming.

Skip to 3:13 and it looks like single frame gen is about 10% faster for 40 series cards, then bolt on the ray reconstruction etc parts for a better image. Not bad for free

At 15:40 in the hardware unboxed video, it gives a little explaination on why it supposedly only works on 5000 series cards, but whether thats true or not is anyones guess

I got a thermal camera addon for my phone today and did a little adventure, heat distribution whilst gaming inside the PC, the 4090 from Zotac seems to do a nice and even job as transferring heat away from the PCB and through the massive cooler, as one would expect...

Note the 12VHPWR connector, a nice and stable 42 degrees, haven't touched the connector since day 1 using the Corsair 600W cable.

And a bit of fun :D

think I've worked out how to keep winning with the 4090

change the lg 38 lcd monitor for a 34" oled, the res change from 3840x1600 to 3440x1440 gets cp2077 averging 125-130fps, then the 10% upgrade from dlss4 should be 140+

It's more than 10% with dlss4 as you have to also factor in reflex 2, enhanced frame gen, updated ray reconstruction etc, not just the new dlss4 upscaler. The fps ltt showed was not accurate as the 4090 machine was still using the old cnn dlss model.

I wonder how much the existing cards will be after 5000 releases? I reckon the Supers will hold value the best as the new cards might not beat them.

yeah it's more the pushing 25% less pixels + the dlss4 10%

if you don't think about it too hard, basically better monitor + a free 5090 with over 30% increase fps

is that just a filter, lens, something else??

Agreed. 1 fake frame is more than enough when you factor in the latency. An increase in the fidelity you get with upscaling is far more interesting that a zillion faux frames.

it's a thermal camera; your phone can't do that by itself just with software unfortunately

I didn't buy it, been sent to me for review. Have some other stuff from them too but this one is the 001:

Thanks, I've always been keen to get one of these myself, but everytime I'm close to hitting buy I get cold feet and cancel. I'm too curious for my own good; if I had one of these I'd check every inch of my house for potential issues and then I'd have to fix any or it would keep nagging me lol

I'll be keeping it around to use on the car too and it's been useful around the house so far, like you can see the radiator pipes inside of a fridge as heat signatures through the housing etc, useful to see if appliances are broken someways and stuff like that. Also useful for spotting peeping toms hiding in the bushes lolol.
