NVIDIA 4000 Series

where are people getting he said 25% in raster? just quickly scrubbed through and he said 2x raster and 4x raytraced (about 17 mins in), of course it's all double speak marketing and wanna see those benchmarks but I didn't see 25%

NVIDIA DLSS 3: AI-Powered Performance Multiplier Boosts Frame Rates By Up To 4X

Seems they have already got an impressive showing with dlss 3 in 35 games but that is an absolute kick in the teeth for ampere owners unless there is some hardware lacking on ampere? Especially with what AMD have done with FSR 2/2.1
You’re paying all that money for the hardware and then use software to boost frame rates. At those prices, you would think you wouldn’t need it!

2x faster in Flight Sim but their own demo showed that flight sim runs at half the speed with DLSS 3.0 off - so does that mean the 4090 runs Flight Sim at the same speed as the 3090Ti without DLSS? It's not even clear that DLSS was being used on the 3090Ti for comparison (it's currently in beta I believe).

The RT games make more sense 'cause 40xx has more RT cores.
And this is the real question. There is no telling. It could be dlss 2.X on the 3090ti vs the dlss 3.0 on the 4090. Or, he told the truth and that's just raw performance without DLSS used. But it's hard to say. I can only put a footnote on this game and wait for reviews to see if this performance delta is true or not. Oh, at the gaming boost clock rate.

I would drop down to less than 5fps in Cyberpunk with everything maxed out with no DLSS at 4K native on my 3080, so if you extrapolate the numbers, 23fps on a 4090 is quite impressive.
This is a tough pill to swallow though at $1600. To be fair 23fps isn't exactly playable.

He did say it "25% in games" to quote it exactly, that was about RT, it was so quick, so buried in a bunch of much grander claims you doubted your own hearing at what was slipped in there.

If only there were any games out there that need this amount of GPU grunt. I'm still playing Siege on my PC and a huge backlog of games. For everything else I have a PS5.

They need to lower the prices to compete with these next gen consoles.

The naming on those cards seems really odd. Presumably they have plans for the 4070 name, but couldn't they have called the higher power one something more clearly different, given that's it got over 25% more cores as well as the extra memory? I dunno 4080 Ti or 4080+ or something?
A lot of people are assuming they just renamed the 4070 TI. This was apparently from the rumours before:

If I wanted to be cynical, I think after the stock issues they realised they priced their cards too low and wanted to increase them. They also realised people probably wouldn't want to pay so much for a GPU with a xx70 in the name. Thus we have the two 4080s, with the added benefit of duping people who don't read the small print that it has less cuda cores.

Hate is a strong word, they can just munch on palm as no wallet is in my hand for them.
Agreed, i noticed how this time round they didn't really beef up the unveil of the 40 series. It was just a quick here's the 4080 and here's the 4090, now moving on to the next bit. Noticed how they really talked up the DLSS 3.0 game though, really wanted you to notice that.
