NVIDIA 4000 Series

Make no mistake though after realising the price situation I wont be buying a 4080 despite my earlier comments. £1300 is insane. Maybe if the used market goes crazy again to lower the net price but that would be the only thing bringing sanity to buying it.

It would have to drop to below a grand though, the previous 3080 was on a better sku and even AIB versions were between £700-900 during a pandemic rage fest. Not sure the magic compression is worth that hike no matter how you spin it.

So whats happened there, thats lower than the 3080 FE got in June 2021 on the game at 1440p.

Has the game code been changed to sell newer GPUs or something?

1.6 suffered a performance drop but only between 5 and 10fps

As far as I remember the game has always been like this at native. I booted up the game ten minutes ago and my 3090 FE (and 5900X CPU) gets around average 35fps at 1440p on the benchmark with absolutely everything (including SSR and RTX quality) at max.

The articles I've seen claim the 3090Ti got average 40 which is what I would expect. With the 4090 getting 59 average and, somehow, average 170 with DLSS 3 quality at 1440p again. Those figures as far as I know are for the 1.6 version of the game and not with the fancy new overdrive RTX that's coming to the game (back of the napkin maths would suggest at 1440p and DLSS 3 the 4090 should get maybe 110 or 120 average)

Fans max'd, open test bench and prob an air-conditioned room too.

Exactly, I know nVidia are using better memory chips and a bigger cooler this time to drop the temps but there is absolute no ******* way they've dropped 20c when combined with a 100w power increase at stock.

Maybe I'll look like an idiot when the reviews are out and maybe I look like one now for forming this opinion so soon but I absolutely think nVidia have pulled a fast one there.

Is that comparing like for like? settings wise, etc.

Later CP patches have some changes to visual effects like water simulations and some RT settings use more light sources, etc.

It has the lol factor that draws out all the 3080 10GB owners from the woodwork. At least it did until Jensen did his reveal..

Tbh the £650 3080 10gb was the best GPU of the last generation and still looks like it'll be the best GPU of this new generation, I can't see nvidia being able to release anything for £650 that tops it and even then whatever we do will probably end up with only 8gb VRAM if ADAs form continues.

For the launch it was great. The prices crept up so it only applies to the FE edition really as for the main part it was nearer to £1000. Then the 12GB model appeared and they both seemed to fall within £50 of one another - so nobody on high end displays or wants the card to last a long time should overlook the one with more buffer at the same price.

If you think that price (£650) was available for any other flavours/models I'm all ears!

Well, there is a big update coming for Cyberpunk 2077, Jenson banged on about it quite a bit.
Sounds like Nvidia have paid to slow the game down then.

I still remember all the Nvidia features in FF15 they were absolute resource drainers.

Nvidia turf etc.

But turning them all off and game was fine.

I got a MSI ventus for that also.
