That and look how much of a princess my PC looks!£420 difference between the cheapest and most expensive card. What would be the increase in performance between these two? 5%?

Nope.... they will only go up with the £ against the $ and the usual crazy demand at the start of every generation.i bet those prices wont stay like that long ....
Finally the penny dropped to what really has happened while people were crying 4070 = 12GB 4080 and reality is it's a 4060ti.
Seems to me that there are far too many entitled people around these days, who feel Nvidia owe them a £650 4080 16GB.
...
Nvidia have over 80% discrete GPU market share. Make no mistake here, people will whine and threaten to buy AMD, though secretly they'll be coveting a 4080/4090, even at prices they complain about.
The main problem with this post is that sadly it’s largely true!Seems to me that there are far too many entitled people around these days, who feel Nvidia owe them a £650 4080 16GB.
Price is determined by the market. Nvidia have millions invested in market research - they know the 4000 series will sell out at these prices, they know the vast majority won't even consider an AMD GPU due to Nvidia's mindshare and the strong public sentiment that Radeon = cheap, nasty, BSOD fest, subpar drivers (regardless of it being true or not).

It's also up to Nvidia to name whatever spec card they want. Historical specifications may point the 4080 to being a '4070' - though clearly Nvidia know that the competition from AMD won't be a factor, so are free to nerf specifications as much as they like.

Entitled? Not really, more like disappointed (in my case). So price is determined by 'the market' and Nvidia is the vast majority market provider in this duopoly segment, I think some small measure of disappointment is understandable.Seems to me that there are far too many entitled people around these days, who feel Nvidia owe them a £650 4080 16GB.
Which idiot would pay £2000 for a graphics card + a power supply for £250 just to play video games? Doesn't matter how wealthy you are it's plain stupid
