NVIDIA 4000 Series

Tempted to just upgrade my 3080 10gb to a 3090ti which can be had new for £1049.

My limit was the MSRP for the FE which I can't see happening now.
I Think the FE card will remain at MSRP as even last gen AIB were going for £3000 but you could still buy the FE for £1400 although it normally sold out pretty quickly but was possible to pick one up via app alerts etc , If we do see a jump in the MSRP then i will either wait for the 4090Ti and hope the pound has recovered by next year or failing that skip this generation as with DLSS 2 my 3090 can still soldier on and wait for a 5000 series... will all depend on what the pound does and if that mrsp takes a jump ( hope not ) but it seems to be recovering slowly . The price of the AIB is an absolute joke if that is true:cry:

It's a difficult decision, and I won't be taking it lightly.
The problem for me is going down 60fps on a 120hz OLED to keep 4k. I can see the frame difference quite clearly.
It's the difference between Performance and Fidelity mode on consoles.

And sorry, but 1440p looks absolute ***** on a decent 4k. Texture differences look huge. I Sometimes regret making the jump from 1440p to 4k. because of cost.
I thought 144Hz or even 200Hz was the sweet spot at 1440p, Until I jumped onto 4k 120Hz. It was a bigger jump then I thought it would be. Especially as AAA games are now being aimed at a base 4k resolution.

I would go AMD, but they are miles behind Nvidia When it comes to DLSS.
It's unfortunately because 1440p doesn't scale properly to 4k

That's me definitely not getting a strix or probably a 4090 at all aha.

Not their fault Truss and Kamikwaze have fd the pound so bad

Not all to blame our cost from ASus is considerably higher than other brands OC cards, I’ve pleaded for a better cost with ASus but stock has shipped and the cost is the cost.

Aorus card from gigabyte is much cheaper than Strix for comparison.

Yes mate as I said not your fault the quid been screwed and the rest around it.

Maybe I'll have more luck when 7000X3D comes

I wouldn't get a Strix at FE cost, the coil whine on those cards is unbearable. I tried two of their 3080's, never again.

I've used three 3000 series cards, all have had coil whine like a pig. MSI 3080 GamingX, 3080FE, 3090FE. It's very common for the 3080/3090 cards.

I have a mate with a 3080 that swears his card has no coil whine. When I was in the same room, it was just as loud as mine, he's just lost some hearing due to lots of music festivals over the years.

I'm really surprised with MSI as they generally are really good for not having coil whine, treating their coils etc.

I have had two 3080 Suprim X's, virtually silent.
Two 3080 Rog Strix's awful to the point of going straight back.

Made a massive difference from playing Elden Ring in peace and quiet and playing it with a constant loud buzzing.

Turn volume up and listen to these of my Strix. Retailer agreed it was unacceptable when they tested it, they also tested another Rog Strix which was exactly the same.
