NVIDIA 4000 Series

In what way, these consoles are more powerful then 80% of peoples PC if we are going by Steams hardware survey considering most are using Nvidia 1060, 2060.

Other then modding games, theres little downsides, not to mention the sales on consoles games are better then Steam now.

For me it's having access to every game ever in the best quality possible (and even further with mod). Been able to buy Steam keys from legit third parties that also makes it a lot cheaper than buying off the store fronts, even when they are discounted on the consoles.

When I buy my 4090 every game is going to get what the consoles would call a "remaster" or a "upgrade patch" for free.

No online fee. Also been able to emulate nearly any game ever as well. I use my PC to store a load of media as well, I've gone completely digital, no discs at all for my films or TV series.

I've got my PC basically set up as a super console anyways, connected to a 77" OLED, everything listed through Steam using my Duelsense, with Atmos surround sound and a reclining sofa with drinks holders. Maximum comfort, best gaming experience IMO

Still can't deny consoles have a place. They just work, and are amazing value for money. Just depends on your priorities as a gamer.

1) Whilst that is not the best pc it is more powerful than a console
2) You can do much more with a pc than you can with a console
3) Sony and Microsoft sell consoles at a loss
4) PC games are most often cheaper than their equivalent on consoles and you don't have to pay for online subscription so in the long run pc works out cheaper
5) Pc can be upgraded easily

CPU is, GPU is not. Not even close lol.

And with VRR that's fine. It's better than the console's 30 fps target. You'll note that on some games you get a much higher fps.
They play with a controller also so it's not really noticed as much and game companies tend to lock in the FPS cap for consistency, not because the hardware can't do it.
Series X is just an all round monster for gaming.

Modding, tailoring settings for how I like, high framerates, ultrawide support, cheaper prices for games thanks to third party sites

I could go on and on. I own a PS5 anyway, it's a great device, but I always gravitate toward PC.

Most console gamers own the ps4, xbox one and switch which can be outperformed by a PC from 2012.

There is a reason why we're all here bickering about prices. Consoles are simply trash and could never replace PC gaming.

Why would someone pay full MSRP for legacy hardware? Just because you own it, doesn't make it a phenomenal card.
because the new 40 series so far is minimum of £900+ which not everyone will pay.... the sad truth is either second hand around £500-£550 or new £649 the 3080 is still the best card around that price...

Yes. On medium settings.

6600 pathetically weak. The only thing that helped it sell was the mis-informed efficiency of eth mining. In actual fact it was pretty darn inefficient at mining as most people don’t measure the usage at the wall.

6600XT is more competent but 6700XT or 6750XT is far superior GPU of last gen.

6600/6500/3050 are all e-waste tbh

Guessing you won't be using DLSS 3.0 then?

I'd argue the 4080 is the card aimed towards users with more money than reason.

The 4090 is a top tier GPU, no far off the 3090 in RRP. IMO is the lower tier 40 series cards which are really ridiculous given what they're offering compared to last generation.
Funny enough meant to say 3090. The 3090 offered no real performance uplift for gaming and it was launched as a gaming card at the time, and it was over double the price of the 3080, but only offering 10 -percent more performance.
The 4090 looks to offer a much bigger leap over the 4080's and even then the price difference is much less since Nvidia increased the pricing and renamed the 4060ti/ into a 4080. So the 4090 in the states is much better performance/value over the 4080.

It's a bit of an odd turn around, usually the higher end cards are diminishing returns, getting less and less performance with exponentially higher and higher prices.

But with the 4000 series cards, the 4090 seems to be the more cost efficient card and as you go down the stack it gets worse

It appears that Sony is making a profit actually - https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/ps5-turning-profit-sony/
Even if is not the case anymore, they're not selling $1000 consoles for $500 to end users.

Companies are making huge profits with huge margins. To give an example about AMD and Ryzen vs. RDNA2:

6800xt 520mm^2 @ $649 => $1,24/mm^2
5800x 81mm^2 @ 449 => $5,54/mm^2

Since they're were making a profit after each 6800xt, they could have sold that 5800x @ around $154 ($1,24 * 124) and still make a profit. Instead, it was sold for almost 4.5 times as much. ;)

PC Upgrades are not free or cheap.
