NVIDIA 4000 Series

Have you checked to see I'd if it has enough connectors for the 4090?
Just checked and it has 6 outputs labeled VGA1-6 on the PSU itself. I also checked to make sure it has a cable for each of those slots, and it does. (I'm currently using two, and there are four more in the box.)

This is the Leadex SE Platinum 1200w model.

Watching the video's have made me think about the following...bearing in mind I'm still on a 1060 6gb due to the 3xxx supply/price issues.

  • The power cable (especially the adapter) coming out of the side, will it all actually fit in my case (o11 evo) without causing unnecessary stress on the new power socket (which looks pretty weak)... after market cable seems like a must (reviews needed on support etc now). I can completely see what Jay is on about in his video.... and I kind of wonder why they don't do 2 positions to chose from because clearly the end (front of case) will be better for some people.
  • Is my 5950x actually fast enough to fully utilise the 4080/4090 without causing a cpu bottleneck in 4k gaming... yes I know it's a weird thought but it might actually be an issue based on what I watched.
  • Can I stop my 'stupid side' going for a 4090 because of the juicy performance in non gaming workloads....
  • The 3xxx series really needs a decent price drop now.
  • RDNA3 info needs to come out 'now' and I hope AMD haven't dropped the ball.

EDIT: Cablemods are doing a right angled adapter to fix the first issue... hopefully it will be an option on the cables as well.

Yeah DP 1.4 means 4k is only going to get 120Hz - So how does the VRR situation play out when this is considered? Or moreso with VR stuff that uses DP2.0?

Above 120FPS/Hz is not that important. What's far more important in games is not having FPS drops, so having as close to a steady 120FPS as possible is the best experience.

4090 is a massive upgrade over the 3090 in this regard.

I have a theory, Nvidia designed the built in overclock to be wasteful, so they had an excuse to ramp up the cooler which in turn makes it look like you buying something thats super expensive to make to justify the prices.

what resolution and frame rate they at ? ( i don't use VR ) but i have also had an LG 4k 165hz monitor and again no issue with that on 1.4a
My Reverb is 4320 x 2160 combined resolution @90FPS.

The LTT video also talks about it, and it sounds like DP 1.4 is only good for 4k 120 and can do more with chroma subsampling. (Compression?)

ah nvm sorry
I just started the video at the part where they bring up the cost-cutting measures. Display Port is the second thing in that section.

I have no use for such a powerful card beyond VR and gimping it with DP 1.4 could limit my future VR headset options.

I need to do some more research, but this could be a deal-breaker for my use-case.
