Possibly without RT and without every settings maxed.do we think the 4000 series cards will finally drive 4k 144hz at a reasonable price/Tier? - I.e not needing the absolute best (maybe a 4070/80 can drive this?..)
Be interesting to see if they will continue the use of 3rd party for selling their FE cards? I think the one per custom will still be a thing though as it was implemented and did quite well in deterring some scalpers.New rumoured release dates in this article that states October as being the release date for the 4090 which does seem a bit more plausible compared to the July/August dates that were floating about, personally thought they were bs but these new dates do seem a lot more accurate and inline with past releases etc

You mean if they pull a 1080ti?Agree. If nvidia pull off a hell of a jump then its possible a 4070 could be that capable. However knowing nvidia, after their initial hype and trying to sell the card at launch (with a few smokes and mirrors) they wont want to give that away for the usual 70 tier which makes me think they will tame it (otherwise people wont be interested in the 80+90 cards).
It will then boil down to price. If what we hear is the rollout plan, the 70 will be available after the 4090, 4080's so we should know how good it will be once you see how the 4080 performs.
4060 apparently pulling 220w, impressive power efficiency that if it matches a 3080 or 3090 in performance especially if they can undervolt as well as ampere.
My thoughts too, robbing Peter to pay Paul. Eventually you run out of power budget, it hits first at the top end, sounds like that's where this generation may be headedJeez the '080 class cards used to be under 200W not long back (1080). Now 220W on the lower mid-range cards?
Considering you're going to be getting 3080/3090 or better performance (especially for RT), that's good, more efficient i.e. 3080 at stock uses 350w and a 3090 is what 450w? So if a 4060 comes in offering the same or better performance with less power consumption, surely that's a good thing? Especially since people who are watching the pennies will most likely be going for that class of gpu or lesser.Jeez the '080 class cards used to be under 200W not long back (1080). Race to the top! It's kind of mad, but it's easier to market better performance, quite a few people won't actually consider power consumption. Not right, but I'd bet a fair proportion don't even think about it.
I sort of agree, but efficiency with regards to wattage, or (as is pretty top of mind for many right now) cost? Which is more important? It's all about "efficiency", not so much consumption for me.
