NVIDIA 4000 Series

The fact it bottlenecks a 5900X at 1440p on some games is truly mind blowing (only in certain areas of Cyberpunk, The Ascent and Red Dead 2 mind you).

DLSS 3 is gonna be the silver bullet here since it’ll alleviate the CPU overhead (benchmarks show CP2077 in particular running at 170fps at 1440p with Quality DLSS and the new frame generation, I tested the same areas and got 110fps before hitting the CPU bottleneck).

Crazy, crazy powerful card (and whisper quiet owing to the stupid big coolers).
1440p UW or 1440p?

NVIDIA said GFE will generate a link for you to click, to be able to purchase. Email invite was another way they do it, so there seem to be 2 different ways. I suspect they will stick to the GFE instead.

I had to go into GFE, look in the "Redeem" list and then click there. The whole check out process was framed within GFE but hosted by the company selling them. You can't just go to there website.

I did get an email also, but it was a prompt to log into GFE.

DLSS 3 should indeed help with this when you already have high FPS, as per various tests. Latency shouldn't grow much then and malformed frames vanish so quickly one can't see any issues. But with low FPS (lower-end CPU and GPU when they release them) it will be rather jarring experience - latency will be much higher and not enough FPS to mask any quality issues, so one will likely be able to see problems. I see this tech more of a helping already very performant machines only (unlike DLSS 2).

That explains confusion, thanks! And makes sense too. Too bad it's just trial with few chosen and not more widely spread. What was your previous GPU, if you don't mind me asking?

I am doing the same. Spending £750 on last-gen kit feels really wrong!
It would but when you compare it to new gen costing almost 3x as much... does it really? Not many people really need (want is a different matter :D) anything above 3080 speed I would imagine. I got 3080 Ti for £800 and it feels very much fine. 4090 is about 2x the speed for about 2x the price.

Oof, quickly I logged back into GFE and went to see what I could "redeem".

Cheapest 3080 I can find is £750 which still seems expensive. I think I will wait and see how easy it is to get a 4070 or 4080.

It is. Once the 4070/4080's are out and stock builds up, no one is going to be getting £750 for a 3080.

I'm expecting reasonably big cuts on the 3XXX series once Nvidia realises no one is buying the 4XXX series and has to drop prices across the board. With no mining profit, demand isnt going to be anywhere close to the demand of the 3xxx series.

Potentially when AMD launch perhaps.

Seeing as they appear to have sold out of 40 series so far globally, it’s not going to happen for a while yet, if at all.

I got this as well but the only Adobe App GFE recognised was Bridge. You would have thought that Photoshop and Premier Pro would have been recognised by GFE.

Zotac 3090 purchased outside GFE

Second PC is going to get a nice uplift from it's current Vega64!

You do realise since the release of the 4090 the 30 series FE cards have now all sold out ? Looking at other retailers with 30 series many are gone now or at last few. There won't be any more price drops of all things they are going up the remaining 30 series..

Just saw this video too from our friends WCCFtech.. yes I know... but ..

Outside view ... DLSS 3 and DX12 of course for it to work.. 120-130fps and cpu bound and 50% gpu usage  ... look high frames .... 50% faked... so basically 60-65 fps in reality. Same as native without DLSS and on DX11 that's not broken for addons and other issues DX12 has with msfs.

Wish they did a cockpit view to show really how bad it is on the gpu use when really really cpu bound as msfs gets in cockpit view.

Anyways I'm out for now as that's really put me off updating to a 4090 now, but will get hands on this weekend at a colleges house with his 4090 and 7950x to test it out myself, but from what I'm seeing its same as before like when they went from 2080ti to 3080 and really showed a very small uplift then and now i'm sure there is zero uplift from a 3080 and up on native with a 4090 just less gpu use and quieter and cooler system so you loose that flying in a plane sound when your gpu revs the fans up . Kidding apart, really annoyed was looking forward to MSFS getting a nice performance bump at native and DLSS but the image quality suffers and the input latency on a sim is a no go for me.

In that clip, once the plane gets into the air, the GPU usage is in the mid to high eighties, I think you're looking at the temp, unless you're referring to the dips.

Still somewhat CPU bound though, and I'm not a fan (of what I've seen so far) either of DLSS3 FG.

Early days though, and hopefully sorted, and/or DLSS 4/5 is out by the time the 5 series is out, because I'm skipping the 4 series as well.

Is there any evidence you need to be currently using GFE to get the email invite?
This is what Nvidia say:

We know it’s often challenging to purchase a new product close to launch date for a variety of reasons. Today, we’re testing a program we call verified priority access - which will give a limited number of GeForce gamers & creators an opportunity to purchase a GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics card.

Invited users receive a GeForce Experience in-app notification that generates a unique URL - connecting invitees to a Founders Edition partner in select regions. Currently, testing for verified priority access includes: Best Buy (United States), Scan (United Kingdom), NBB (Germany & Netherlands), and LDLC (France, Italy, and Spain).

Nvidia are just dribbling stock out to keep supply low and prices high, there is plenty of 3000 stock. Jensen basically said this in his earnings call.

My Inno3D seems to have a buggered bearing on one of the fans, rattling like crazy if the fans go above 80%. Can't see anything loose.

:(

Bummer.

Have you tried it with the fans at 100%?

Can control them with Afterburner.
