NVIDIA 4000 Series

They only go nuts/frenzied due to crypto booms as they are literally money printers during those times! OFCOURSE something that literally prints money and makes its cost back in a few months sells out instantly. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong/wants to push the narrative that this isnt the case for their own gain.
Just like Apple fans are buying new iPhones for more monies each year to... mine on them? :) I think you underestimate brand loyalty and the need to have new shiny toys, irrelevant of needs. There's still a lot of people with enough money put away to indulge themselves like this. That said each time I hope market will correct corpo-greed and each time I am disappointed - we're not there yet, it would seem.

People are buying these for 2500 on ebay, founders edition. Seems crazy to pay a £800 mark up considering stock will be fine after new year
Especially that FE warranty does NOT move to new buyer (NVIDIA states that clearly in ToS). It stays with original one only and they do check it apparently. Hence, people pay £2500 for card without warranty, as is - which is very silly.

Watching the rain forest scalpers has been interesting. $2200 Zotak sold after a few hours but most priced above that have sat overnight.

The glaring difference between this launch and Ampere, is the FOMO pricing is only "working" on the 4090 and not all that well. The attempts at jacking up prices on 3000 series have resulted in cards just sitting there going nowhere. People who want graphics cards (other than a 4090) can get them at decent prices by just scrolling past the scalpers.

This is not the same as last time.

Personally i think it is unsustainable for the PC gaming/graphics card market.

Mobile phones are very different

With the 1,000' sof youytube and social media wannabe's I imagine some will think they'll make the money back off subs, gotta get one early so your content is relevant. Seems Nvidia already sent every youtube nobody one. Plus you look at some of the leading tech websites, they get sent one from each AIB to review also. Looking at OCUK's stock thread - who would prolly get a fair whack of the stock into the UK? Seems many many units go to reviewers first. Guru3d got 6 different cards, Well over £10k of cards :(

Again, this isn't their plan. Their plan has been outlined already, by their own CEO - GPUs from now on will be more expensive. They're happy to sell less of the halo products and more of lower shelves ones, but they will do all they can to not let any pricing drop at all (neither 3k nor 4k series). Which shows in stores - all prices of 3k series went up again, temporal drop was only a short-term promotion by NVIDIA and it ended. None of the new 3k are planned at all to drop below MSRP and neither they plan any drops for 4k series, at all. When 3k are gone, people won't have a choice but to shell monies for 4k series (not 4090 but any 4k that comes to market). And that's NVIDIA's plan - sell less but for much higher margins (from mining times) if needed. They can wait, they're patient. People shown them over and over again they will buy their GPUs no matter what. NVIDIA want to be just like Apple is with phones and only raise prices over time. They do not even mention competition either, as if it did not exist.
That only works if they also sell a high enough volume that making a higher margin actually results in profit.
Jacking the prices up on cards sitting on shelves doesn't actually help them very much.

Hi there

For those contemplating which 4090, we have made an unboxing video to rule all unboxing videos and 8 Pack has reviewed and tested a card:

Enjoy, please give a thumbs up, subscribe and share if possible. :)

"Apple's latest line-up of iPhones will boast better cameras, faster processors and a longer lasting battery — all at the same prices as last year's models, despite inflationary pressure that has driven up the cost of many other everyday items."

I am sure they know exactly what they need to do to make shareholders happy and so far, this is pretty much what their CEO himself said they will do.

Like the last year models weren't expensive already? They're simply ahead of NVIDIA in setting up proper pricing and margins. :)

"Knowing" doesn't mean "able". Nvidia doesn't control everything. That's why they had to slash prices on the 3090Ti, for instance.

Why not charge even more though? If "number always go up" there should have been another price increase.
