NVIDIA 4000 Series

They are very quiet and they are overkill - the YouTuber bangforbuckgamer has been doing some 4k gaming videos on his MSI suprim 4090 and he set the fans to max speed to see what happens and the card runs at 48c... it's just ridiculous but yes of course at max speed they are loud it's just to show how overkill the cooler is, by default pretty much all 4090 cards don't run their fans higher than 40% speed and it makes them super quiet

Yeap, it's ridiculous how quiet my Strix 4090 is. Fans spin at 1100RPM maximum on my sample - whereas founders edition cards spin at 1500+, which is much louder.

If you're not bothered by noise then FE is the way to go, but AIB if you want really quiet cards!

Finally, I’ve found a positive in buying a Strix OC . Don’t feel as bad now.

You could buy the FE card and watercool it for the price difference though and have a cooler running gpu that doesn't resemble a breeze block

looking at reviews and AIB's the FE has really closed the gap personally wouldnt pay the extra for the AIB's

Yes, but it's in test phase and seems random. Not many people got it yet, apparently (I haven't D: ).

Quite a few people have got it tbh. I know 4 people so far. Its not like they are going email 50% of the people who own a 10 series or above card are they? Doubt they have that much stock anyway.

Issue is they have no way of knowing whether they are emailing people who already have bought an AIB card and will just profit from the FE.

They should have sent these invites out on the launch day morning.

Is there any evidence you need to be currently using GFE to get the email invite?

Well the terms and conditions say that they are inviting Nvidia gamers and the only way they know that is through GFE I suppose. Sure I read somewhere that you needed to have GFE installed.

Also, most likely you have to have a proper country set in your NVIDIA account. I just noticed mine had no country set at all... Corrected!

I tried blagging an invite by talking to their live chat, they said the following:

Raghu: NVIDIA occasionally delivers rewards to gamers via GeForce Experience. Today, we’re testing a program we call verified priority access - which will give a limited number of GeForce gamers & creators priority access to purchase a GeForce RTX 4090 Founders Edition graphics card from participating etail partners that carry the Founders Edition.

Invited users will find their reward within the GeForce Experience application, successful redemption will give them a unique link directing them to their respective etailer’s website.

Raghu: We select GeForce Experience users who are opted-in to receive rewards and felt would be a good match for this opportunity.

Raghu: But this is not something that is manually done.
chatAgent.png
Raghu: As mentioned this is a limited invite program and we from tech support do not have control over it.
chatAgent.png
Raghu: All you have to do is to wait and see if you get the invite reward on GFE
chatEndUserMessage.png
me: oh i see, that's a shame - I've made sure my rewards are all enabled and things - do you know the frequency at which the invites are being sent out?
chatAgent.png
Raghu: Unfortunately, we do not have those information.
chatEndUserMessage.png
me: no worries, are you able to check if i'm eligable and everything i need to have done in order to be is done?
chatAgent.png
Raghu: All you need to do it logged into GFE and enable rewards options. There is nothing more that needs to be done from your end

Well, if only things were so easy. Fact is, Apple has a huge fanbase which doesn't really even look at other brands at all, hence for them Apple IS a monopoly and can dictate any prices they want - big number of fans will still buy it (as they jacked up prices in the past a bunch of times by a lot, already). There's a limit to price raises of course and a good balance to find. Possibly Apple found it with current prices, but I am not convinced we won't see higher in the future. NVIDIA on the other hand doesn't seem to care one bit about competition indeed but they do have a large loyal following as well - their true fans do not care for AMD and won't even look at these cards. This is why NVIDIA can raise prices and see how it goes. So far, it goes well with 4k series for them.

It's not that easy as one is a physical device you hold and touch with an interface and screen that is largely the product itself, the other isn't. It just renders any comparison even more pointless. Apple aren't even remotely close to being a monopoly in the phone market. I don't even think they outsell Samsung as it stands, and that's just one android brand.

Only way you'll see prices cut is if AMD bring similar performance across the board for less money.
