NVIDIA 4000 Series

You could buy the FE card and watercool it for the price difference though and have a cooler running gpu that doesn't resemble a breeze block

Watercooling FE means voiding warranty. Also, WC pump is audible, whereas strix spends much of it's time (even in some games ) at 0DB fans completely off. So this wasn't an option for me.

Strix looks fantastic in my case, love the full metal design of it, a big improvement on any breeze block I've seen :D

Thank you for the pic! What case is this? I’ve a lancool 2 mesh with 176mm cpu clearance. Strix is 160mm not taking the adapter length into consideration. Would this be an issue? I could upgrade to a Fractal torrent with 188mm clearance. What do you suggest? Custom cable mods aren’t available in my country :( so have to use the default adapter.

I don't have the Lancool-II-Mesh to test, but you're right it has a 176mm CPU clearance. My pictured Evolv X has 190mm CPU clearance, that 14mm will mean a very tight fit, as even with my case the 16pin adaptor is just about touching the side panel.

Will it fit? I'm sure it will, but would not recommend it as it's going to stop the panel closing comfortably and may damage the 16 pin cable over time.

If I were buying a new case, I'd go for 190mm clearance (as on Phanteks Evolv X) as a bare minimum to be on the safe side.

Got an MSI Gaming X Trio today - astounding! Easy OC over 3000MHz on core, 11002Mhz on memory, never above 57c!
It might help that I've got it in a 1000D, but still! Very very quiet, very cool.

I suppose it depends on how you do it but I can't hear my pump at all - not over case fans for example. It's pretty easy to isolate the noise (or it has been for me). The voiding thing is always a fun debate but something I've lived with for years (although my current WB was prefitted for the first time due to availability) without issue (I've done RMAs). I'm really glad to hear (pun intended) yours is so quiet though. I've been WC for well over a decade, originally for noise reduction but also I realised how low temps with far more efficient cooling and this is especially true for GPUs (more so than CPUs for example). When asked about WC by friends I tell them not to do it - not unless you're prepared for the expense and complexity that comes with it.

Love it tho me :D

The plus with the 4xxx series is that it seems nvids fumbles meant the AIB builders over specced the cooling versus the actual power draw on release so the air coolers are doing a good job indeed.

p600S has 190mm side clearance and more than enough room at the front
Without bending the adapter at all this is how much the soft part of the cable gets pushed by the glass side

The fans on mine didn't even kick in until a few seconds after I loaded into Cyberpunk

Tried Fallout New Vegas for a laugh and got bored timing it after 6 minutes - I'm not convinced they'll ever spin up in DX9 games (possibly some DX10 ones too)

So I have a question; I own the Zotac 4090 Trinity which has an adapter for 3x8pin cables. If i were able to buy a 4x8pin adapter, could I use this to get 600w to the card, or is this dangerous?

A quick question. Have you noticed any coil whine ? Because dam I have!! At 40 % fan curve it's temps are amazing but ow boy the whine on mine ....
I don't notice it on mine but my case is under the desk so would be hard to notice anyway I guess

FFS only have 3 x PSU - Pcie anyway around this ? Some of them have a splitter on them will that work ?
with 3 of 4 pins you get 93% power limit but the cards so OP anyway it demolishes game even if you limit to 60% in afterburner

I have a Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh and this is the amount of bend I am seeing after closing the panel. Does anyone think its too much and I should wait for Cablemod adapter? I don't want to risk frying the PC

I have my case fans stop at idle - which is important for me during work. Having the GPU do the same is then logical.

The 4090 coolers, AIB models especially, have such massive coolers that even the WC cards don't get higher clocks by the looks of things. My 4090 runs in the 50, 60's maximum - hardly worth watercooling at that point for me at least. I agree in prior generations WC made a huge difference though!

The fans don't even spin up for quite some time. Older games they don't spin at all!

As you mentioned, air coolers are doing a good job this generation.

Which card have you got? My Suprim X arrived before but leaving it in the box for now as considering returning it. I think its probably going to be overkill for 3440 x 1440 @ 120Hz :D Will mull over it this weekend.
