NVIDIA 4000 Series

I doubt they will reduce the price of the renamed 4080 12gb when they are gloating about the popularity of the 4090 and posting pictures of people queuing around the block

Loooool. Probably wise though. Come back with a rename/better price (I realise I'm daydreaming on the latter)

I believe the UK government were used as consultants for this backtrack as they are experts in that field.

They probably finally realised the **** storm this was causing so they're gonna rename it to what it actuaally is, a 4070 at best.

They had 2 3080's with different ram amounts, somehow that wasn't connfusing, yet suddenly this is? Big time back pedaling.
Difference is the 4080 16gb also has 2000 more cores than the 12gb version. it probably wouldn't even get past trading standards in the UK

Anyone know how the 4090 shapes up against 3090Ti-SLI (NVLink)? I can only find comparisons with 3090 SLI not 3090Ti.

Here is the Time Spy Extreme benchmark.

I'm well aware the differences are more than vram, it's just comical to see nvidia push this out as an excuse when we all know they were trying to pull a fast one.

Wait for the reviews to come out for the "4080" 12GB to see how it compares against the 4090 and real 4080.

Think i'll just wait for the 4090 invite from nvidia on one of my 30 series FE cards. However long it takes.
Really think paying £500+ more for an AIB card is a complete rip off.

I'll be super impressed with their cajones if they do. Their own numbers show a pretty modest improvement over the 3080. At that price every reviewer is going to rip it a new one.

So weird to announce the 12GB card in the first place and the cancel it before it’s launched. Looks very bizarre, like they aren’t even confident in their own decision making.

They had no issues with the GTX 1060 that has 3gb and 6gb version with different core counts. It's a naughty trick to catch out the casual buyer and should imo definitely be stopped.

definitely undervolt your 4090.

In some games undervolted + 70% powerband=no lose of performance!

Also I noticed that in some games, when you start increasing the powerband the framerate goes down initially. Nvidia really have launched these at max performance and nothing in it for over clockers except heat and a bigger electric bill.

Nothing to do with that, they're naming it a 4080 and its clearly NOT a 4080, its missing vram and cuda cores vs the more expensive version. People have seen through their bs and called them out on it, seems they'd rather remove it from sale or rebadge it to 4070 and launch at a later date.

I'm sure their partners are over the moon at this, all packaging etc having to be either remade or have the specs\naming covered with stickers.

Your right. Don’t make my mistake and pay £2250 for a Strix Oc. From what I’ve seen it’s no better performance wise, or cooler even. Save your money.

Nothing to do with what? Clearly they aren’t confident in their own decision to launch it as a 4080 otherwise they wouldn’t have cancelled it.

Now they will just release it as a 4070 but at the same price. Yay.

Nothing to do with with confidence, they know they've been caught with their hand in the cookie jar so theyre nipping it in the bud before it gets into the wild.

Yeah you get an email too, so just a case of hurry up and wait on the lottery for me! And I imagine a lot of others who won't pay over £2k for one....

Seen a Video by a certain YouTuber claiming it’s pointless and to just decrease the power. I hoped he was wrong.

You are literally proving my point…that’s 100% down to their LACK of confidence in their own product launch/announcement.

This is a company worth billions, you would think they would think these things through first. Instead they’ve announced something and now retracted it which makes them look frankly stupid.
