NVIDIA 4000 Series

Damn, when I heard that these things don't need 600w and are actually more efficient than Ampere, I bumped power draw down my list of concerns. I forgot how tiny that connector is vs the 350-450w they pull.

The power itself is "tolerable" but running it through such tiny pins is concerning.

The wierd thing is reviews keep saying they don't use more than the 3090Ti.... which uses the same power connector and doesn't seem to be melting.

I'm somewhat concerned after seeing those pictures. I have the Corsair cable which is just 2 cables, and while mine doesn't have an aggressive bend it is bent slightly, tried to take a pic of it, not really much I can do as it hits the glass. I'm guessing undervolting might help?!

I'm guessing a fire extinguisher might help :p

According to Cablemod there shouldn't be any bend in the cable at all until 35mm (1.3 Inch) after the start of the cable.

To me there looks like there is some pull on the top cables, i would do everything i can to make that dead straight for at least 1.5 Inch.

Cheers mate, guess the glass side is coming off tomorrow then so I can straighten it out a bit.

I think it's important to remember that the connectors are where the concern is. The cable itself should bend without much issue. I would rather have the cable leave the connector straight and then have a tighter bend in the cable itself. (where it touches the glass)

-This assumes you even have a way to make that happen without putting undue stress on the connector/pins in the process. If you have to pinch and tug on the connector to get the cable to leave in a straight-ish line, the pins may have already been compromised at that point.

*edit* someone beat me to it.

Could they not have put a line on the heatshrink to show how far its ok to start a bend from? This whole situation is utterly stupid.

What was wrong with the old ones? they seemed to be doing the job pretty well for more than a decade, they didn't need fixing.

So I took the glass panel off and straightened it out absolutely fine, it’s a much better angle but still it’s not perfect. Going to order a cable mod thing when they release, I think it said in 6 days time the 90 degree thing is coming out. I did touch the cable where it connects and it didn’t feel hot to touch and that was after gaming. Just don’t want to leave the glass panel off with my ratchet cats, they’ll prob climb inside the case and try to sleep on the GPU.

Removed by the (Nvidia) mods...why, one wonders.
