NVIDIA 4000 Series

Need bit help here .
I am torn between the asus thor 1200 watt or 1600 watt for 4090?
Meanwhile my tx750w is performing admirably with a max power draw of 680w stressing furmark and r23 at the same time. 12700k@5ghz and 4090.

Nvidia figured it would need 600W of juice to achieve the clock speeds needed to boost performance using Samsung’s process. Then Nvidia switched to TSMC’s 4nm node instead. The result was not only better yields but much higher performance than Nvidia expected. This allowed it to lower the total board power (TBP) from 600W all the way down to 450W.

I have the inno3d ichill x3 4090 and without any tweaking it pulls a max of 400W tweaked I can get this down to 300-350W my total system load with a 12700k is about 550W I have kept my RM750W PSU as no need to go bigger.

Only using two connectors to the three on the adaptor with each supporting up to 300w. Inno3d ichill btw. No coil whine and quiet with a fixed speed of 2850mhz @1000mv, temp doesn't go over 75°.

I thought for a second about the 13th gen but would definitely require new PSU for maybe a 10% improvement in vr?

I'll wait this generation of CPUs out.

Why u no drop uk? :(

Don't worry 3 EU countries had drops earlier and all 3 still have the buy now option... They can't sell them, the bottom fell out for the 40 series even at FE MSRP... good luck to retailers with over priced AIBS.

Tomorrow probably will be the drop for UK and guessing shouldn't be that hard to get one by the looks of what is happening in the 3 EU countries today.

Nvidia ....

When scalpers don't bother, you know they are overpriced.

Probably 50% or more of all that were purchased on release drops ended up returned because they couldn't scalp them... Reality is now showing its true face to the pricing of these cards and the availability is easy to get since release day. Just the pricing went from msrp to scalping at retailers.

How are they asleep at the wheel? They have their own launch schedule they're sticking to, they're not gonna ditch that because nvidia have been flogging potential incendiary bombs to people,

I think if they're trying to compete they'd show more urgency in general, but as I have said I don't think they are trying to compete directly.

Had they been in direct comp with a good card out now, they'd be cleaning up. A point I made a few days ago. I do see value in doing you're own thing as well though, but one could easily aregue there's an opportunity being missed here...

Theres really no opportunity because the liklihood is no stock of any of the 7 series has been distributed to resellers so they can't just "flick a switch" and have them instantly on sale. That takes time. AMD are doing their own thing and seemingly aren't gonna go into panic stations mode and potentially do a rush launch with lower stock levels than they would prefer. RDNA 2 launch was a farce in that regard, hopefully this time it's different.

Yes I know that, obviously there's no stock. I thought it was obvious I was speaking hypothetically?

Liike I said, plenty to be said fot doing youir own thing...

i don't mean to be a party pooper in this lets discredit nvidia w@nkathon party but when i go to buy a 4090 FE on the foreign nvidia websites i can't. there's a buy button but once pressed it can't complete the action  i bet they're sold out like they are in the UK and USA, why would europe be any different. Bet they sell out in minutes on the next UK drop.
Eh? The French site ones are available, you just can't buy them from countries outside of France, Belgium, and Spain.
