Frequency scales with temperature, lower the temp and boost will increase and remains more stable than when on air .
I'm curious temperature also changes conductor resistance. How does it affect GPU performance?

For example Do you get higher clocks for the same voltage if temperatures are cooler?
 
Was just curious about what the pricing is like vs what nvidia says on their site, quite funny :p

Well all I can say is the 4090 is an absolute beast of a card. Especially when coming from a 3070.

FPS is at least double including increasing from high setting to ultra in all games.

The reviews focussed on 3090 to 4090 raster performance and yep, I am not sure I would have seen the point of laying out £1000+ for just 60% or so.

But from a 3070, I am getting such huge jumps in FPS, that all setting on a super ultra wide g9 is easy peasy for the 4090.

In simple terms, yes :)

Nvidia's boost algorithm is quite clever, and depending on temperature, power, silicone quality, type of load, will boost following set parameters.

Unless the 40 series has gone a step forward and doing something different to previous gens

Yep, no drop.
Had a Zotac on order, then cancelled. Simply could not bring myself to pay 200 quid over the RRP. Especially considering they were £1600-£1700 @ the initial launch.

I'm not gonna bother for now. Will see how things are in a few days/weeks

Thought ti was more like 85% 4090 to 3090? It was 60% 4090 to 3090ti.
 
@Bruno.88 It idled at 65C? There was something wrong with that. My 2080Ti idles at 31C, my 3090FE idles at 32C, so how hot is your room if your card idled at 65C on air?
by default the fan curve on most cards is set to not even turn on until like 60-65c

The aircooled cards with vapour chambers don't get hot though, at 450watt they max out at around 62c

I can play cyberpunk at 3440c1440 with pyscho rt and my card will only hit 58c, the cooler dumps a lot of hotair into my case though the glass side panel feels warm to the touch and if I open it and push my hand alongside the gpu the fans are blowing away air that must be around 45c

it doesn't raise my cpu temps any though with a p600s case and noctua 140mm 1500rpm fans at 50% when gaming (noctua d15 cooler right above the gpu)

my card boosts to 2820mhz without me touching the clocks on air.

will get a few % extra performance when water cooling and will also be bit more efficient and use a little less power , for example my 3090 Strix would boost upto 2190Mhz ( 1080p ) when temp was in the 40 deg range , when on air no chance i would get it that high and would get to 2115/2130Mhz max.

Double the performance for quadruple the price!

I’m making the same upgrade from a 3070 to a 4090. I’m on a 32:9 monitor mind you.
