NVIDIA 4000 Series

Hi guys fast question. I have 12900K stock

32 GB 2x16 GB DDR4 3600mhz

Palit Gamerock Pro OC rtx 4090

1300W Seasonic Platinum Prime

Windows 11 2H22. Updated new nvidia drivers.

Quake 2 rtx question

I changed from 3090 ti to rtx 4090. On 1440P with 3090 Ti i had on begining 107-108 fps. Now i have 165-180fps ,and fps fluctuating even if i am doing nothing. Just standing. Is this normal?

gpu usage 100% , gpu clocks 2650+-
107-108 fps with a 3090TI to 165-180 fps with a 4090 seems about right in terms of what you should gain fps wise.

Anyone with a Suprim x oc? Are you able to confirm what the max % on the power slider is? I'm unable to go over 100% (450w). I'm 99% sure my power adapter cable (the 4th connector) is faulty.

Leaving the 4th connector unplugged still allows everything to boot and run, as you know, with 3 cables. If I disconnect any of the first 3 with the 4th connected, it will not post. I've swapped cables with known good ones etc...

I'm pretty sure it's not a bios hard lock (mine is the latest one that's not even listed on techpowerup up yet), just wanted to double check with someone who has a suprim air cooled.

Make sure the cables at the psu end are plugged in all the way and also make sure to try another pcie connector on the psu end in case one of them is not working right or a rail may have failed in the psu, just rule out everything and if same well adapter maybe the issue or the gpu connector or the VBIOS on the gpu.

A multimeter comes in handy for such issues to test the adapter and the psu cables to see if they are providing voltage to the pins and grounding correctly. But just rule out the psu end too and maybe bad psu cables or connector at the psu end or a rail failed if a multi rail psu.

EDIT: the techpowerup review states +16% so max is 520w the card can use in theory.

The FE can do +33% 600w and some other cards but really pointless with these gpus.

You'll need 13900ks and 64gb ddr5 10000mts unfortunately, your system can't cut it in November 2022 I'm afraid

Yea this is it, I knew max power target is 520w, I even flashed to the listed bios from techpowerup and my power slider showed 93% max. Strange.

Yup I've swapped cables, triple checked connectors all ends, I've even tried disconnecting the 4th psu connector from the adapter and piggy backing off the 3rd to test.
I'm 99.9% sure my psu and psu cables are good. I've got that Corsair 600w new connector on pre-order. Should hopefully solve it. No spare adapters for me to try sadly, to rule that out, but pretty sure it's that. GPU I'm sure is also good.

I know in games it don't even pull over 450w on these cards, but nice to have it working as intended.

No comparisons with the 4090?
Good price, but think the chiplet inter-connect is holding the cards back. Explanins why the Mhz are quite slow.
