NVIDIA 4000 Series

but yea recall over 100k cards because about 15 had issues so far
100k chips have been supplied, you've no idea how many cards have been sold.

none 4090 owners are going to keep on crying about it forever I guess
How long will 4090 owners with damaged power connectors be crying? How long will the other owners have to worry until the issue is fixed?

imagine spending that much and having to also buy better cable for peace of mind , havent seen any reports of FE so they seem to be fine

saying that I would buy custom cable anyway the stock ones are ugly if have PC set to be viewed with glass panel

I am thinking about not getting a 4090 and waiting for the 4090Ti, hopefully by then the problem will be fixed.

Same, I also hope some AIBs are allowed to stick 8pin connectors back on their 4090/ti models as I'm really not impressed by the 16pin connector and can still see it easily getting damaged in the future even if it turns out to be the adaptor cables. Honestly I would be worried in the future selling on a 4090/ti to someone that may end up having a serious problem with it and not sure how I personally would be able to deal with that if it causes an injury or worse.

I just want nvidia to come out now and say what the issues causing this to make it clear to buyers if it's something they can live with or not. I have had my mouse over the buy button a few times and then stepped back and thought nope wait and see the outcome of this and the pricing is silly even when the AIB card I was looking at was "only" £120 more than a FE MSRP.. I don't want to play Russian roulette with a piece of hardware that has some risks with it at the moment. :(

Personally, I don't have an issue with buying a custom cable as Nvidia has always done this historically. They came up with that 12 pin connector for the FE 3080 Ti which also had that **** adaptor. I bought a custom cable for that connector but at least it did not have flaws.

The 12VHPWR connector is just horrible. For one, the bend radius is of utmost importance as per Cablemod so I wonder how many of these cases just tried to bend it below the 36mm radius, found out it didnt work and then left the side panel open or worked around it but by that time the terminals had already come loose. Apart from the FE, the only cases on the market which support this guidance are super towers or huge cases like the Fractal Torrent and even then there is barely any headroom left. The Zotac Amp Aero is a 150mm tall card. Add 36mm on top and you end up with 186mm, barely short of 190mm found on giant cases. My Lian Li Lancool 2 Mesh has a clearance of 176mm so had to keep the side panel open but dust collects faster inside the case now and there is no point to the exhaust and intake fans. I really want to resell this 4090 as its more trouble than its worth but unfortunately AMD came up short on their cards this gen so will probably just get a massive case in the next few months.

Regardless, Nvidia's continued insistance to fix what isn't broken by being miserly on PCB space is going to cause some serious damage this time around.

How long will it be before someone does a meme video, Whereby
100K, 200K makes no difference to people like myself.

Been trying to get an FE or TUF since launch.
Very demoralising seeing the crap ton of FE cards listed/sold on auction site by scalpers, some who clearly had multiples to sell.

Had same issue with the 30-series, eventually stuck it out with my 2080Ti.
Same here, no matter how long it takes, Founders Edition this time around. Even my favourite Tuf model looks half arsed put together with huge gaps.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s so frustrating to see so many FE cards on eBay especially as Nvidia seem to be throttling the supply of these cards to such an extent, I mean one drop in the last week.

The 30 series didn't even get a drop a month!

It's still early days for the 40 series, so time will tell. But I totally agree with sticking it out for the FE models, especially in this high price climate.

I'm hoping that people have learnt to not pay the scalper prices and leave them hanging out to dry.

NV need to give higher priority to their FE cards given they immediately go out of stock yet availability of AIB cards seems pretty decent already.
I've only seen the Buy now button once so far, on launch day, and it didn't work (for an FE) :D.

It's a bait and switch, nvidia really want you to buy ampere.

So, I'm seeing plenty of 4090s in stock, from £1800 to £2000+ at all the usual E-tailers.

Looks like we've found the upper boundary of peoples stupidity when it comes to GPU buying...
what palit? the good brands seem sold out.

Palit was the one that skimped on board components and had crap VRMS?

AMD too judging by the state of RDNA3 competing only with last gen nvidia cards

What percentage of melting products do you think Nvidia is comfotable with?
under 0.01% it seems

What odds of winning the lottery would make you buy a ticket? yet stop you buying a 4090?

You could buy that ticket every week and still not win the lottery, if you are going to get a melt if its even a real thing it seems it happens within about 20 hours anyway
