NVIDIA 4000 Series

turns out there is meant to be a slip of paper somewhere in my ek waterblock box which states that i should use the 0.8mm and 1mm pads and not the 1mm and 1.5mm pads as it states in the instruction book! Sadly i used the online instructions on EK website which they havent updated whioch still says 1mm and 1.5mm so I am going to strip down the block this weekedn and redo it.

Ek really need to put an update on their website rather than rely on a slip of paper amendment!!!!
That's... not great. Don't EK have a history of sending out wrong thickness pads before as well?

Oh yeah it's super common with ekwb. You are the user basically should have a good knowledge of thermal pads and for yourself figure out if the ones you got are the right size cause ekwb sure as hell won't make sure they put the right ones in the box and if you use the wrong pads you'll get high temps

Power connector on the rear of the EVGA card is how it should have been as standard including the founders considering the size of the cards. At least one company had some common sense.
why it just means they get b ent to a U angle instead of an L angle

lots of cases, maybe even the majority have cable routing at the side of the card anyway

Hmm did not realise the 4080 16GB was so low, I knew the 12GB (now cancelled lol) was low anyway because it's basically a different card, but not the 16GB. Ah well!
The 4080 12gb was the distraction card as it was so obviously poor, it's job was to take the spotlight off the 16gb so that one could go in under the radar.

I've seen the Tuf for £350 less than OCUK are charging. Getting beyond a joke here, I have to say.
The whole GPU market is a joke and has been for 2 years now, consumers really need to take a stand against this BS else top end cards will be 4K in a couple of years and midrange will be pushing 2k.

Take a stand, buy a 4090

I recon Ada will be another Turing for Nvidia and we will get a “my gamer friends, it is now safe to upgrade“ again come next gen cards. May not be as good as Ampere and 3080 offering, but much closer to that than the crap on offer with Ada. Well I hope so anyway.

Looks to me like 4090 sales are drying up already. Bet it will take them a hell of a lot longer to ship their next 100K 4090’s or the one after. Only so many people willing to pay that kind of money.

The EVGA card looks really good. Maybe they prototyped it, then got the price per board from nvidia and thought this won't work. Maybe nvidia didn't like the power connector at the rear.

I spoke to @Curtis vincent yesterday (before this all became a thing) regarding his sale and he seemed just to be someone who had changed his mind post AMD launch, I know it’s not great to try and add a bit more on top of rrp but I completely understand the temptation (and if you don’t then I don’t believe you). The reaction on here to it has been a bit hyperbolic imo.

4080 16gb is trash tier and should have been a 4070 for 600 quid.

great chart. Really drives home that the 4080 16gb is nothing more than a 4070 in disguise.

If we're using RTX3000 as our base then the RTX4090 is actually a xx80 series GPU. Nvidia pushed the entire stack up for pricing. They renamed the 4070 as a 4080 16gb and renamed the real 4080 a 4090. And the real 4090 is not yet released
