NVIDIA 4000 Series

I mean in some cases a 4090ti might be worth it but depending on price, it would have to be priced very close to the 4090 given the small performance increase. It might give you a bump in Cyberpunk at max settings rt etc, but in most cases it’s still going to be held back by your CPU. We don’t need any faster GPU’s, we need faster CPU’s now.

get a decent case and don't put the case on your desk at head height :D

seems coil whine is a side effect off using good quality whatever the individual component is called on the cards.

someone posted a video about it in here at some point, seems zoltac uses lesser quality component that doesn't buzz, but maybe wont last as many years

So buy a new case, change your room, anything else?

This seems like guesswork to me.

Of course none of the issues are the fault of Nvidia, it's always the fault of the people spending nearly 2K on a GPU right?

The same happens with very expensive cars for example. You can hear a knock when going over speed bumps that your friend with the exact same car doesn’t have, but when you take it to the dealership you get the “its normal”. It isn’t and I would never accept it, especially when we’ve both paid the same. I would, and have rejected a car because of this. No difference with a GPU, if you find it unacceptable change it, because it is a fault and isn’t advertised as having coil whine when sold.

I like how he was tring to make coil-whine seem like an advantageous feature...the cope in this forum is incredible.

What....

No we don't at 4k games are still bottle necked by the GPU theres literally reviews on this.

Is like the justifications about coil whine. Oh just get some headphones, I mean really? On 2k card you are happy with this solution?
Then there's the whole cable melting situation, with no statement from nvidia.
I swear there are a lot of deluded people on here.

Not sure if that's aimed at me, but I want to be clear that I wasn't justifying headphones only stating they're a valid way of blocking out the noise from a PC.

Before I used to run custom loop watercooling I used to wear headphones because I didn't like the sound the turbo dyson blower-style coolers made under full load. I fully agree that nvidia needs to get on top of the coil whine and melting cable issues but I do wonder if the problem with coil whine is as bad as people make out. I'm not calling out any individuals, but I've never personally had a card with an issue and some people make out like they've got something screaming inside their case that makes it unbearable.

pfft not at all
I think this was the video someone linked before

The guy basically says the higher the amps the coil is rated the more likely it is to whine

In all the years I've been gaming, coil whine disappears in time. And more often than not it is the resonance caused by different PSU's rather than the cards themselves. Is it the cards fault if you swap PSU and the whine disappears? Coil whine fades over time - leave it benching for a good few hours and it'll settle down.

Melted cables - all set off from one or two reddit posts - very few cases globally all hyped up by websites wanting clicks for controversy, many reneging on what they originally said. Cool way to keep the revenue and reputation. Other established tech gurus have tried to intentionally make these cables fail.

Jonny Guru from Corsair and PSU expert now saying that people have maybe been too careful and not plugging the cable home fully.

I think it's more people ramming these in cases that are too small against the side window.

Not saying that the connector is great either - it's in a stupid place considering most people want a clean look - but at the end of the day, these cards are 150mm at the connector or wider and some cases aren't big enough. I imagine if I'd bought a 4090 I'd have been tempted to jam it in instead of waiting for a new case.

No one on here has a melted cable and I'd have expected to see one by now. Or someone knows of someone. It would be interesting to see what cases people had that suffered melted cables.

Can 100% dispute the coil whine going away theory also. I am sure that definitely can happen. I had a 2080 Ti that screamed exactly the same for 2 years and through changes in all sorts of hardware including PSU. It is the main thing I would return something for early nowadays after thinking I could live with it.

two cards that I had coil whine in the past the coil whine never went away this is over years so I need to play another lottery and hope coil whine gets better over time ??

3080 fe I had was terrible , I could hear it out side of the room and with headset on when audio played was lower , I wasnt gonna hope it went away from past experience the replacement also has it but is much better now after 2 years it hasnt got better it mostly gets drowned out when the system fans kick in while gaming which I can live with
