NVIDIA 4000 Series

The 4080 is actually a very good gpu , excellent performance per watt and a sensible framebuffer. If they did a version without the mammoth cooler ( it just does not need it) and without the problematic 12 pin connector ( nothing wrong with 2 x 8 pin) and then priced it sensibly they would be selling bucketloads.

That's the problem though, the fly in the ointment....price. That alone makes it a dead fish.

No-one is knocking the cards performance it's just price and thtat rubbish connector, ditto 4090.

We all complain, but we will all get hysterical again and keep on buying.

There are many things in that video that are depressingly correct. We just keep on buying. Sure the 4080 is a disaster, but it won't take much to get us hysterical again. There is no way that NVIDIA is about to reduce the price by £500. Get used to £1000+ video cards. They aren't going away soon.

I think most potential buyers can look past the massive cooler & the 12-pin connector. The price is it's downfall.
@ £999 the 4080 prob would have sold very fast.

If cards are sitting on shelves, then no reasonable person is going to pay full price on eBay, she will be selling the GPU at a loss

The real scalpers will have enough sense to see how the market has changed and leave cards like the 4080 alone.

This time it's the morons who have no clue what they're doing but saw all the news about scalpers making a fortune on the last gen and think they can get in on it.

Like the idiots who try to get in on stocks or crypto after the big moves.

Shame about the 4080 pricing as it’s really good card, nice sweet spot with the amount of vram as well, if it was priced decently I’d say £849 while still pricey compared the the 3080 launch price I’d say it would fly off the shelves at that price.
The 3080s are now being pulled go check ocuk and others. I'm suspecting we're going to see 3080s disappear and 4080s drop down to compete with incoming AMD cards.

I hope that's the case, all those scalpers bought at 1.4k suddenly have cards worth 900.

Ordered standard block from OCUK
I never noticed they had them in stock already otherwise would have ordered mine from here as all in would have saved £100  the block i got is on preorder at OCUK currently but they have the black version in for £300

Is there any in on whether EK are going to be releasing a Special Edition block for the 4090?
Its not get its own unique design like the 3080/3090 FE blocks , this generation all the blocks look the same from AIB to FE . The only visual difference is if you choose active back plate cooling or standard which is a metal backplate afaik

Which in itself is wrong. It shouldn't have been any more than £800.
They shouldn't have been more than £650 (give or take a little for industrial factors); it's a generational replacement (not a higher tier, as nVidia seem to be thinking/charging for) for the 3080 and thus should be in the same price bracket. That's how generations work....

It's nice for something to be released and to be able to actually by the thing for a change. Shame it's for the reason that it's so horrendously overpriced.
