NVIDIA 4000 Series

Colourful shows off the 4070ti, has exact same specs as the cancelled 4080 12gb

So the new 4060ti, is just the old 4060ti.

I am contemplating buying a 4090 gpu to get the most out of the VR
looking At what’s in stock the cheapest is the PNY and the Zotac, but boost clock for those are 2520mhz compared to some which are 2640mhz (for an extra 3-£400)
will the higher mhz make much of a difference, or could the PNY be o/c to match?
just not sure what my best bet is

At the absolute max theoretical gain, that's a 4.5% gain. It's unlikely to make even that much difference in practice as there are a variety of limiting factors like memory speed. But if you use the overclocking facilities in something like MSI afterburner, either to create a custom curve for your card or just to stick a few MHz on the clocks, you're likely to find you can get it stable higher than what it ships with anyway, assuming they work the same as previous nvidia generations.

tl;dr - I wouldn't worry about it., but maybe a 4090 owner would like to chime in.

Well, at least there's plenty of stock.....

I don't even mind the prices, I just don't see why we need these cards. Where are the AAA games pushing hardware upgrades? There aren't any. :)

Look at reviews and then buy the cheapest one you can get that has a decent cooler.

There’s barely any difference between any of them.

High refresh rates at 4K is the 4090’s friend. Not worth it for anything less, IMO.

VR I think is the main one that benefits from these cards, the 4080 is pointless compared, I already have a 3090 but looking at making improvements in VR
might even get £800 ish for the 3090

Yeah, I’ve no doubt that a 4090 would be a great improvement over a 3090 in VR. But it’s a large upgrade cost.

Sold my 3090FE on here a few weeks ago for £700.

Is your 3090 struggling with VR? I have a 3080 and I don't have any issues with VR games but I'm on an older headset. What do you have?

hope u don't mind me chiming in here, i have a pimax 8kx it has 2 3840x2160 panels i deffo benefit from a 4090. but even hmd's like the quest 2 it gives a nice boost, there's several good vr games where it's hard to maintain the hmd's refresh rate (72/90/120Hz) fps wise, like msfs (probably the worst).

I have the VArjo Aero, it’s decent on the 3090 but want to improve the performance, will definitely need a new psu though
nice, love the high res on that hmd, i owned 1 for 5 months.
