NVIDIA 4000 Series

Am looking at 2 PS4’s that are in stock

would either of these be ok, or should I wait for atx 3.0?

They are fine. If you get the Corsair you can buy the Corsair 16pin adapter to tidy the cables up

OCUK had some higher watt ATX 3 supplies recently I think so I'd wait for more stock to arrive, personally. Just had a quick look and only a 750w ATX 3.0 supply in stock at present.

Is there a discernible difference between the different 4090's from third party vendors? As the Palit gamerock is noticeably cheaper than some of the other bigger brands but as this card keeps relatively cool etc anyway is there really such a difference to justify the already even higher price?

Cheaper brands have skimped out on the parts like VRMs and capacitors but performance will be the same anyway.

Interesting, thank you :) Do we anticipate there will be a 4000 series price drop to combat AMD? I haven't kept up to date on the latest news and rumours at all so I apologise if it's regurgitating info but I am very much in the market for either a 4080/4090 or AMD equivalent at the moment

I doubt the new AMD cards will affect 4090 prices, they just aren’t in the same league atm. Competitive to the 4080. There might be a bit of a price cut after Xmas but it won’t be a lot I shouldn’t imagine

I don’t think there will be a price drop until the summer next year. NVIDIA have stated in their annual financial report that they are holding back supply of 4xxx to keep the price high until 2nd half of 2023 while they clear their 3xxx series overstock.

depends what happens with the exchange rate I guess, but I imagine the dollar price for the 4090 will remain the same in the absence of any threat at the top end… I also imagine if AMD were to release a theoretical 7950XTX that is same ballpark, they’ll price accordingly.

What might be more likely in my opinion is a 4080Ti that gives within 10% of the 4090 at a much more “reasonable” (relative to today’s definition of reasonable anyway) price.

That's what nvidia should have done from the start instead of giving us the rubbish $1200 4080 that no one in their right mind was going to buy.

You wont see a 4080 Ti until the 4080 actually start selling and that’s not going to happen until the price is probably £250 less than it is now for the 4080. Once yields start improving then the Ti's will be released at the same prices as the 4080's now.
