NVIDIA 4000 Series

That's because Gamers Nexus proved that it was happening because people hadn't plugged them in fully and they gave people tips on how to make sure that it's done correctly.
steve also said its hard to tell when inb properly as his didnt make a sound and you had to apply a **** load of force to be sure, my recent one went straight in same as the old style connectors

Can confirm my native 16 pin connector took a lot of force to connect fully and didn’t noticeably click when inserted. Got out the flashlight and kept double checking before turning on.

It’s funny because despite that there’s still hysterical people on a Asus Facebook forum I’m a part of who won’t touch their cards until they get an alternative to the Nvidia adaptor and think that if they take the risk their computer will burn down and take their house and family with it. I’m not even exaggerating and that was something I read and I had to reply that perhaps he needed therapy rather than a replacement adaptor lol.

Anyone know if Colourful is a reputable brand? It's the cheapest brand avaliable in NZ but cant find much online for it..

Can either grab this one tomorrow or I wait a week for boxing day sales and hope the Gigabyte comes down around this price.

Thanks, yeah I thought so.. Was moreso wondering if anyone had any opinions on it from internet browsing etc.

I'll cry if it has huge coil whine
yeah ive seen then odd video that mentioned a colourful card and they seem to look ok but obv not a brand i see around here so never had onje to give personal experience with

If you can't plug a cable in properly, you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an expensive GPU!

Here we go again. The adapters have two different types of connectors. The end that gives no audible or tactile feedback, and requires neanderthal force, is the one that ended up getting its own mega thread.

The other end of those same adapters...that were presumably connected by the same individuals...did NOT get a megathread.

All 4 of the PCIe connectors on my adapter gave proper feedback and required normal force to engage.

The 12VHPWR connector side? Nope. That one required special attention that no other connector in the build required.

anyone else needed to do a firmware update to the 4090 because of the bug where you just have a black screen during boot. No show for bios.
I try using the nvidia firmware tool but it just doesn't seem to do anything. everything goes black while its "updating" but I've left it for like an hour and nothing happens. I can escape out of it fine but I just want it updated

The complaint I have I can't get my pny 4090 to sit with my riser cable 3 slot vs 2 slot in my nzxt 710i raging isn't the word lol.

No, mine does not click, so I prob have the less good one. I just pushed it in with a normal amount of force and checked there was no gap. Have had zero issues.
99.999% of people mamaged to use both types with no issue & didnt need neanderthal force. If there was a serious issue Nvidia would have initaited a recall/replacement.
I'll say it again, if you can't insert a cable & check it's inserted, maybe a £1700 GPU is not for you.

Worked fine on my 4080 FE, didn't take long to install.
