NVIDIA 4000 Series

Is it okay to use that adapter cable if I don't have 3 separate pcie cables?
i mean it might be ok, afaik those cables are meant for 150w but i wouldnt want to be daisy chaining things if possible

I would want to run 3 separate cables to be safe, there are already issues with these adaptors melting if they're not fulling clipped in.

tbf tho its a 4080 fe he was on about thats meant to be what? 350w? 2 cables and the mobo could cover it or 3 cables slightly out of spec:D

arguably its not ideal and should get either enough actual cables or an aftermarket one

not that anyone asked...but I reckon the Nvidia CES event will see the 4070ti (formerly 4080 12gb)released at USD 799 and there is an outside chance of the 4080 16gb will see a price cut.

Anyone else excited? I sure hope Jensen wears his leather jacket....

You may get spikes above that though.

Okay I've bought 3 separate PCIe 8pin cables for my PSU (official corsair ones), should do the trick!
and a 5800x3d... this is getting expensive!
Been told my 3700x would bottleneck a 4080

I don't think they'll announce a 4080 price cut just yet unless they have the 4080ti coming to replace it. Also thanks to Nvidia's new pricing partnership with AMD the 4080 has actually seen a small uptick in sales so Jensen will want to extract the maximum from those customers before moving on to the rest.

1.8x 3090ti performance at half the TDP....yeah...I'll wait for the third party reviews. This will be cherry-picked DLSS3 scenarios. I bet it still beats the AMD 7900 XTX in RTX though....

Confirmed at USD 799. I wonder what that means for 2nd hand 3090/3080 cards?!

3090s have already been selling second hand for about £700, now they will be worth even less.... 3080s have been going for about £500 and now will probably go for £400/450

£800 would be a decent price tbf given it is matching/beating a 3090ti but gibbo has already stated £900 for low end models and up to £1k for better models.

What's the logic behind saying the 4070ti is really a rebadged 4060?

Yes it is. A rebadged 4060ti.

Becuase it's been rebadged down from the ridiculous 4080 class it was originally launched as, people have just accepted it's a 4070ti, when in reality - it isn't. It was always a 4060ti, now NV can sell lower end cards and pretend they're 60 class cards, for more than the 60 class were last time around.

I'm assuming NV planned this all along knowing if they pretended to launch/unlaunch the original card as 80 card, if they were seen to to "back down" and relanch as a 70 card people would accept it and they have...

People are so easily scammed.

:)

My post stated £800 - £1000.
It is going to be an insane selling card, especially the ones closer to £800, were selling huge amounts of 3080 at £700-800 and the 4070Ti is faster, so its fair to say the sales on it are going to be insane.

Really?

Thought they would have held up better than that. I sold my 3080 in September for £475 and in the aftermath of the 4090/80 announcement I expected the prices to go up to nearly MSRP.

Held up better? MSRP was £650 2 years ago for 3080 FE, if this were a normal market, they should be costing £300-350 now :D

Ah for some reason thought it was £900!

At £800, they will sell out.

...this really does pull the rug out from underneath Ampere. I sure hope Nvidia has cleared that inventory channel of Ampere cards....Q4'23 results on 22 Feb so I guess we'll find out then :)
