NVIDIA 4000 Series

My post stated £800 - £1000.
It is going to be an insane selling card, especially the ones closer to £800, were selling huge amounts of 3080 at £700-800 and the 4070Ti is faster, so its fair to say the sales on it are going to be insane.
So, in your opinion, is the 4070ti good value then @£800?, come on, tell me with a straight face it's good value.

Sadly some people will buy - this "it is faster than the previous generation" so slapping more money on it isn't something the consumer should in any way support though. The 4080 should be a £800 card tops never mind any x70 class card.
Exactly, it makes me sick how Gibbo and the rest of the ignorant clowns around here keep pretending like £1200 for a 80 class card is somehow accpetable or the norm, its pure madness, stop acting like you doing us a favor selling us this overpriced Nvidia garbage.

The fact that there are tons of 3080's and 4080's in stock everywhere tells me that they are not selling "tons", because the "tons" are still sat there, if they were selling that well they'd be out of stock.

I'm not in the UK, but here in Asia I can pick up a 3080 for £400, retail nib, no one is going to be buying a 4070 for double that price

£800 for a 4070 is an absolute joke . Built a machine early in the year patiently waiting for 4*** series but at this price it’s ridiculous so I’m selling up and buying a Mac studio my days of building computers is done . Can easily afford it but not being ripped off
Surely you speak in jest.. because buying a Mac would be like pressing the self destruct button on the rip off machine

No bit I cant mount my 4090 on my riser cable 2 slot (old) 3 slot now won't fit .
.
thats fine as long as you have enough pcie cables for it, i personally used the octopus adapter for 2 weeks till my cablemod one arrived
I think iused my octopus for over a week got a fasgear cable and it Deffo helps with cable management.

I Agree with the cost of 4080 being too high, I have a 3080 and would upgrade if the price was right (800 for FE up to 900 for others) but at anything over that I wont unless I absolutely have to. During Covid and mining boom there was a shortage for months and the 30 series offered a big improvement over previous that could plat most games at a reasonable speed. Most people that wanted one and had the money to spend now have one so there is less of a reason to purchase 40 series.

Yes over Christmas and the good price from OC they did sell but didnt all go. I suspect even if the price is reduced to 900 or 1000 they will be selling but not in high quantities

If my GPU breaks then I will buy a 4080 or maybe 4090 as I am fortunate as I can afford it, but cannot justify when I have one already, at 800-900 I could justify an upgrade

Well as Nvidia say themselves the 30 series is the best mainstream option. They've essentially confirmed what many people thought, that new GPUs are not intended for the majority of normal people, that they should be buying two year old GPUs.

It seems Nvidia have shifted their line-up from model numbers being tailored to different market segments to series numbers, 20 series = budget gamers, 30 series = mainstream, 40 series = high-end.

Definitely won't be looking to upgrade my 3080fe. I really don't see the gains as worth it - marginal at best and there's no need to as I'm not playing on some mega monitor or anything. Also I could only barely justify £650 - and that included a slug back from my 2070super at the time. Anyone in a family financial position would find it very hard to justify for a few extra fps or nice shiny water reflections or whatever when what they've got (depending what they've got obv) will run almost anything perfectly well.

I'm curious what the alternative is? You've made a bold statement about what you consider to be the problem, but what is your solution?

NV are definitely ******* on consumers with their pricing, but I fail to see how OCUK has anything to do with that? If you don't like the prices at this shop, don't buy at this shop. There are a dozen other retailers that you can go to *shrug*

The marketing is disgusting, it's not apples to apples on raw performance sad thing is it will probably fool some people

Also where thr hell is the footnote in that chart?? How's that allowed ?

Pricing this gen is ridiculous, I agree, but you might want to turn down the anger a notch or two.

This guy is on a retailers forum complaining about how they took a temporary loss to sell to people who have the money and chose to spend it how they wish.... There are many people in said OCUK who rely on selling cards to feed their families etc.. its called capitalism. Vote with your wallet then shutup Sgt no one cares.....

basement dweller short on cash spending his time trolling...Go find a discord to occupy your day.

on another note.... yes I think if you have a 3060ti/3070+ and play on 1440p I see no reason to upgrade... (same with 6700xt +)
4K if you want more than 60fps with upscaling tech then I'd bucket that into the big spender category anyway and those individuals aren't usually price sensitive.

I think that is a pretty interesting viewpoint about the generations being categories as opposed to ever new generation being "something for everyone"... I kind of view Car's in that way, all the said Sgt labelled "Mugs" buy new vehicles which depreciate by 15-20% the moment they're driven off the lot, then the "smart" people pick them up 1/2 years down the line for a great price/value.

Really thought the 4070ti was my answer to a new GPU solution. But reading these comments I'm wondering if that is the case.

I currently have a 1080ti and game with a 1440p 144hz monitor with no desire to go to 4k at all. I am toying with the idea of an UW panel though.

The 1080ti is showing it's age now for me and I am on the hunt for something new. I'm looking to spend less than 1k really and don't want to go second hande. I have thought about it multiple times and I feel Nvidia currently offer a better all round package.

I'm still thinking 4070ti is a potentially good buy for me. Shame there will be no FE though. Any suggestions?
