NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

So basically expect £1500 or more for the 5080.

Like I said before, every time Nvidia gives us a performance increase it also gives us a price increase. £1500 for 5080 is not going to sell very well, its going to be a 4080 vs 4090 all over again, if you are going to pay £1500 for 5080 might as well pay the extra for 5090 for much more performance.

By design of course, that’s what they want. They want their models below the 5090 to push people in to buying one.
It's a pretty old sales tactic. We used to do it at the hire company I used to work for, appalling quality electric concrete mixer for 100 quid and a superb quality Belle electric mixer at 130 quid. Naturally we sold a lot of the latter.

Rookie numbers.

Alongside the 5090 release, Jensen will be announcing "nVidia GPU Mortgages" allowing users to get on the GPU ladder spreading the cost over 25 years.

Honestly I’m surprised they haven’t already started something like this. Most people already buy top end cards on finance anyway.

They don't want to sell gaming cards at all at this point when the same silicon can be sold to the AI market for many times the price. This is why they are making the prices look absolutely awful on gaming cards to crash demand and free up capacity and silicon for AI.

Apparently the rumour is the 5080 will be around $1500.

If true then all I can say is Bwahahaha!!

I would not be surprised if this is deliberate leaks so they can release at $1200 and people will fall for the “cheaper than expected… what a bargain”. Remember the 4080 S was released cheaper than the original 4080. Nvidia most likely want it back at that original price.

Yeah. Been using that tactic for many gens. 1500 just makes zero sense.

It's like what done at the petrol pumps, shoot the price up by say 15p or 20p, everyone moans, then eventually it goes back down to a few pence above where it was originally and everyone goes 'that's not too bad'.

I wonder if that $1,500 will rise if import tariffs increase, or if Nvidia have already baked the increases in? $1,500 wouldn't be completely insane in the latter scenario, and (hopefully) means better pricing in other markets.
