NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

This is what happens when prices are overhyped and now everyone is saying “it’s not too bad…” we will never vote with our wallets.
We will only vote with our wallets when we can't afford it. Clearly Nvidia is not pricing their cards at the various performance levels beyond what people are generally willing to pay.

I disagree.

I refused to buy the 4080 or the 7900xtx as they launched at over 1000.

I think the 5080 at 1000 is a good price. I paid 800 for my 1080ti. 200 extra over 8 years of inflation is pretty damn comparable from my perspective of what I paid all those years ago.

It’s a good price in relation to the 4080’s terrible pricing but compared to a 3080 it still amounts to a +50% price increase for what will be around an 80% performance increase after 4.5 years.

The 5080 will no way sit at £1000, once retailers have their hands on them, expect to see them starting at £1200 for base models.

Price is about on the mark for what I expected for 5090 and 5070 ti, lower for 5080 and 5070. And my expectations were set apart from and prior to the guerilla conditioning leaks that indicated mucg higher prices.

Considering the price/performance on the 5080, we're likely getting a 25% increase (raster not fake frames) over 4080 Super which is about average for a generational uptick and slightly better than Ampere to Lovelace.

Except it's not really +50%, as I'm not convinced that most of us who managed to get hold of a 3080 did so at RRP. I think I paid £750 for mine, and considered that I got a damned fine deal at the time. They were selling for double that a couple of months later! I'm more convinced that I'll manage to get a 5080 for £1k-ish, so it's more a 30% price increase for 80% performance after those years, and given inflation running at 4-10% in that time, I'm kinda ok with that.

Will be more like 15-20% given the spec, the 5080 has 5% more cuda core and 3% higher boost clocks than a 4080 super.
