2pm GMTAny idea what time of the day the preorders on the 30th January will begin?
My Corsair RM1000X isn't ATX 3.0 spec though, so where does that leave me ? The transient power spikes @Grim5 mentioned still concern me somewhat.
$2000 5090 gets 28 fps in black myth at 4k with no crutches to help it.
We'll have to wait and see I say. With rtx3090 and 4090, it was not a bad idea to have at least 2x headroom on your GPU TDP because both of those GPUs liked to produce transient spikes that would for a few microseconds cause the GPU to draw double its power rating
If transients still happen on the 5090, you're looking at Transient spikes of close to 1200w, and if the PSU protection kicks in it could shut down the PC
never liked the 3080. Way overhyped and expensive at the time. I loved my 6800xt more.6800XT is beasting it - abit faster than 3090 in several titles these days - fine wine drivers, must admit I've never got so much value from a card than a 6800XT 16gb - it eventually beat out Nvidia's old flagship.
Usually it's the day before the releaseInteresting, I didnt know about that! Suppose as its been mentioned already a million times but will need to wait until some proper testing and the reviews are out.
Speaking of reviews, is there a date on when the embargo is being lifted?
I have the same PSU.My Corsair RM1000X isn't ATX 3.0 spec though, so where does that leave me ? The transient power spikes @Grim5 mentioned still concern me somewhat.

I know Apple do yhis with iPhones, keep the lasty gen at a lower price but in general its teh done practic, discontinue the old model before bringiong out the new. Cuts production costs as not producing multiple generations and keeps new buyers on current gen while pleasing share holders alsoIt is and I agree, But was there any need for Nvidia to stop production of the 40x series for other users who have been waiting to upgrade and could possibly have gotten a good upgrade with the 40x series if they kept them in circulation but lowered the cost as most reasonable manufacturers do, At the end of the day yes there is R&D in DLSS 4 and all the upscaling tech but it is software and therefore GPU's should be cheaper not more expensive, It is that what gets on my grate with Nvidia.
I have no issues with upscaling tech for improving performance if visual clarity is not compromised but in most cases it is not to mention the extra lag although Reflex 2 should work better but still these are all if's buts and maybes, It's not universal and won't work with all titles.
wow, 4k native and the absolute best the latest technology allows is 28fps? we have a looooong way to go before 4k native on 120fps or higher in most games
There is a lot of "probably" there, lets wait for real reviews to make our judgement and cut back on teh guessing.4090: Runs relatively cool and quiet, 450w max power draw and gets 23fps in Wukong at native 4k max setting and Ray Tracing on
5090: Probably runs hotter and louder, has 575w max power draw and gets 28fps in Wukong with the same settings
The RTX5090 commands a $500 higher price and consumes 29% more power to operate, and probably runs hotter and louder - and for these sacrifices you will get 20% additional performance
I know at CES they said Jensen is the best CEO in the world, but if people buy the RTX5090 then Jensen will be the best salesman in history

Well I'm staying with the 4090 so there is thatI was instantly disappointed the moment I saw that Far Cry 6 graph. In all honesty I'm surprised Nvidia even put it out there.
Nvidia just had another Fermi moment and AMD is nowhere to be found to take advantage of it.
575w, $2k price tag, 2+ years of R&D for 20% performance increase? LOL
I hope when the dust settles people can digest the magnitude of this epic failure.
Whaat you were getting the 5090 last night lol. @TNAWell I'm staying with the 4090 so there is that
