NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

I wonder how many 5090 FEs Nvidia hope to sell at £2k. Thats more than my mortgage payments by a couple of hundred!

Saying that people will lap it up at 2k and there won’t be any protest with peoples wallets.
There's people asking about finance lol, you underestimate how much people will stretch for these things, myself included

Got to wonder how much of that 575W is really needed. I've held my 4090 at a 90% power limit for as long as I've had it and don't seem to lose any significant performance.
Probably most of it, Blackwell is more power hungry than Lovelace to the point where their datacentre GPUs are even overheating. The reason behind the higher power consumption seems to be the extra AI acceleration hardware they've added in.

This is why I'm kinda doubting the architecture's improvement when it comes to gaming performance. Apart from the usual small IPC increases, most of the extra improvement seems to be geared for AI and not rendering graphics. Jensen didn't mention gaming performance a whole lot either, he spent more time talking about AI capabilities and DLSS features.

I got my gigabyte gaming oc for around £1920 on launch, which was a tier above the lowerst tier, I think lowest I saw it and reasonable to get was around £1800

Your right £1910 launch day Gigabyte OC for me (I cancelled it).

+310 for a entry level... ouch. Yeah fe it is if it's anything like that again.

Mate do you really expect users to plug cables in all the way without a visual indication? Madness.

That's actually pretty cool all things considered

It'll be a total gimmick as I'm betting the light is triggered by contact of the sense pins which was never the issue. The problem was the sense pins could make contact before the connector was fully seated.

AIUI, the 12V-2x6 connector has made the sense pins shorter to ensure full power can't flow unless the connector is fully seated, rendering any such lights completely redundant.

I like that design. It is tempting. Is Zotac still seen as a budget brand? I wonder if they will do the 6 year warranty again.

Zotac used to get a lot of stick for being a bit budget but I had a Zotac 1080Ti and it was a great card.

What tools are decent for stock alerts? A couple of years ago I used a channel on Telegram for 30xx FE cards but that channel is no longer running.

Going on past Nvidia history, can any of you geeks give a decent prediction on when the 80 class Super and Ti variants will come out after the initial release?

There's a huge gap between the 5080 and 5090 that is obviously going to be filled with a 5080 Super, 5080Ti/ 5080Ti Super. I'm on a 3090 and if the 5080 is equivalent to a 4090 in raster then I'm very tempted but not sure I can stomach going down to 16Gb Vram from 24. 16GB is already being reached in some stuff I play (I play VR too by the way). A 5080 Super with ~20GB for c£1200 could be nice though.....

Having skipped a couple of Gens, I think a 5090 will be coming my way. Damn that price though :(

Your stalker mate gpuerilla (aka Th0nt) alerted me you are back.

Hopefully you do get the 5090. Would help getting your active here again I would imagine. Good banters lie ahead if it is anything like before
