NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

not just about looks but playable framerates. if you only play at 30-40fps, a uplift of 60-80fps makes a difference
That's why I was hoping for more raw performance boost (which early information shows as really not that big) than relying on DLSS4 for everthing. I would have to play games on DLSS4 to finalise my judgement but 3 generated frames for every real one sounds like it would feel terrible relative to the FPS you get.

New Zotac cards come with a fire warning light
I really love that feature, something like that should be a mandatory feature on every GPU for an extra piece of mind.

Yeah. Personally I like asus products, I have a strix x870E-E and it's a great board. The astral looks insane and I would love to get one but I'm waiting to see the prices, hoping they're not too crazy
Me too, after failed motherboards I always buy the TUF motherboards and they are always great.

Would like to pick up an Astral as well but it would also be nice to get some ideas of stock levels for AIB cards - hopefully we'll hear something from OcUK nearer the time on that front. If there's very little stock of AIB cards and better stock of FEs then I'd probably just grab an FE to actually have a chance of getting one in a reasonable timeframe.

5090 Astral will be the card I go for, unless the 5090 FE is quieter, though I doubt it will be.

OCUK sorted me with a 4090 Strix on release day, had it delivered on the 13th October 2022. Hopefully history repeats itself!

My last experience purchasing a GPU was trying to get a 3090 on release day, so it's got to be better than that.

Yes, but you can also just play 1440p and get great frame rates with cards other than the top tier.

Just to be clear, I'm probably going to buy the 5090, but this is on the basis of 'I like and enjoy the shiny things'. To me this isn't something that I feel can truly justify on the basis of 'value'. Rather, it's just a luxury that I'd like to have and I'm prepared to spend the money for that luxury, which is not really the same thing as 'justifying on the basis of value' IMO.

Other people may have different perspectives, which is also fine - it is subjective!

ZOTAC safety light for the power connector:

If my 4090 ever fails under its 5 year warranty, then they should be sending me a 5090 as a like for like replacement :p

Currently using a 3080Ti which isn't really struggling at all. Currently playing Delta Force and it's running at 165 FPS capped which is what my Alienware 34 OLED will do.

Thing is, I'm kinda thinking that a day one purchase of a 5090 is the most sensible. The 4090 held its value really really well and was a pain to get a hold of for the first year. During this time its owners enjoyed top tier performance on an asset that didn't really depreciate much.

As I also run a limited company I can claim the vat back and run the 5090 as a business expense so the actual cost to me is under £1000 which makes us much more palatable.

Since when was VAT 50%?
