NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

I love the aesthetics of my 4090 Strix, but having seen the new Asus line of 5090 cards I really don't like any of them, I do think the 5090FE looks good and love the sleeker 2slot design, would be good in a non-RGB build.

Yes, but you can also just play 1440p and get great frame rates with cards other than the top tier.

Just to be clear, I'm probably going to buy the 5090, but this is on the basis of 'I like and enjoy the shiny things'. To me this isn't something that I feel can truly justify on the basis of 'value'. Rather, it's just a luxury that I'd like to have and I'm prepared to spend the money for that luxury, which is not really the same thing as 'justifying on the basis of value' IMO.

Other people may have different perspectives, which is also fine - it is subjective!
I have a 4k monitor

Currently using a 3080Ti which isn't really struggling at all. Currently playing Delta Force and it's running at 165 FPS capped which is what my Alienware 34 OLED will do.

Thing is, I'm kinda thinking that a day one purchase of a 5090 is the most sensible. The 4090 held its value really really well and was a pain to get a hold of for the first year. During this time its owners enjoyed top tier performance on an asset that didn't really depreciate much.

As I also run a limited company I can claim the vat back and run the 5090 as a business expense so the actual cost to me is under £1000 which makes us much more palatable.
How would you add that to your book keeping accounts? As a ai gpu card used for ai research?

You know they will be crazy they have always been. Just wait till they release the white astral that will be even more
As I mentioned a few days ago, I spoke with a retailer from a small shop here in Italy, and they told me they’ll be selling the Astral 5090 for around €3900. Obviously, it’s just a single shop and not representative, so take it with a grain of salt, but it can give an initial idea of what the price range might be. It’s likely that on bigger stores, we’ll see it for no less than €3400

Was that not the case for the 4090?
Did you forget the 3090/Ti existed at crazy price and not much better perf than a 3080 Ti? :p

4090 vs 30s was night and day difference relative to its perf advantage over a 3090 series whilst msrping for /only/ £1600 vs the £1800~ the 3090 Ti retailed for.

It kind of is :p just a painful one
It depends on how you define "improvement".

I try to just look at how it performs and what it costs, because manufacturers can put whatever they want on the box.

They could, for instance, put a 4070 in a box labeled "4080 12GB" and claim they are holding down prices.

What does it do? What does it cost?

Everything else is marketing.

lol seems legit *bad poker face* :p

4090 is massively better at ray tracing than a 3090, it was a huge upgrade at the time.

Look on the bright side, at least next gen will probably be cheaper once Nvidia realises they can sell every 12th generated frame to advertisers to subsidise the cost.
every 69th inserted frame is jensen telling you to buy more frames.

The more frames you buy, the more real frames you save.
