NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Correction, Nvidia would rather you buy a 5080 now, then later get FOMO over a 24GB 5080ti, sell the 5080 to buy a 5080ti and act like the upgrade somehow didn't cost that much, since the sale of a 5080 somehow offsets a lot of the cost.

It's the patented double-dip, they got it working for 4090 and are trying it for 5090.

Eh? There was no double-dip on the 4090?

Let's stick to 50% for example sake.

20fps, with performance DLSS will give you around 40 fps as it tends to about double it. then you add FG to 40fps.

50% increase means 30fps base, 60 fps DLSS performance and you add FG. To that.

Huge practical difference.

Frame gen lol, it's like taking candy from babies

Yea but I feel like they've announced like 75% RT performance upgrades like 23 times, if these upgrades were really that effective, turning on pathfinding at this point would blow your monitor's back out as it desperately tries to deal with the gargantuan incoming fps

Divide number by 0.11 to get the price in pounds as of today. Mental.. that is almost 4090 pricing

What is the VAT rate in Denmark? The Windforce card directly translates to about £1030, which i think is £50 over the 5080 FE MSRP, so broadly in line with my expectations. It's the higher tier cards listed there which are criminal.

We don't technically pay VAT for products sold within the country by danish companies, we pay something called "Moms", which is also a sales tax. Anyway, its set to 25%.

But a side not. That Windforce card will be in extremely low availability. It will be a card only on offer in limited numbers so AIBs can say that they offer GPUs at MSRP

Thanks for the response. I agree, MSRP cards will be in very short supply, intentionally. I'm just shocked at the price jump to the next level card (Windforce > Gaming OC, for example). I don't recall such a large jump in previous generations at launch, but happy to be corrected.

Ludicrosity. If this is the case here in the UK, I'm going to pick up a 9070xt or stick with my 6950xt and call it a day. I have my eye on a squat sled thst just the difference between RRP and that mark up would cover.
I think I've already got it soldified in my mind that I'm going to either buy a previous gen card, or go for a 9070 depending on price. A few leakers have indicated that the AMD cards aren't exactly a slouch.

If true @mrk will surely be all over it. He has always been about the RT. 4090 always had plenty raster performance anyway :p

That's the thing. Whilst cores are only up about 30%, with memory bandwidth up 78% and RT potentially up 66%, if those are what's bottlenecking the 4090 then we could see some decent gains.

Yep. And for someone that loves RT that is a huge boost.

In previous generations, was it hard to get all of the cards? Like will it be harder to get a 5080 compared to 5070 TI? Is it basically impossible for normal people to get a FE Card?

Never bought a card at launch before so not sure what to expect.

Everything will sell out within 5-10 mins of the launch time. FE cards will go in a few minutes, likely before you can even get the Nvidia website to load.

Think Glastonbury but with GPUs :D
