NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

This vid has a 3080 running lossless at 400+ fps in CP.

From using it you can get okay results like that but there's very very obvious latency and artefacting issues that DLSS FG doesn't have. Its a great little bit of software, but it has its limitations.

Unless your Base FPS is at least 150 FPS I wouldn't regard that kind of FPS scaling from it as particularly playable.

Dlss FG has plenty of artifacts too. Maybe not as bad as this app, but still plenty of ugly artifacts that imo make it unusable

DLSS FG is just the same, you can see artifacting all over the DF vid.

The difference is the lossless dev is selling it for 5 bucks whereas Nvidia is charging $2000 for pretty much the same thing, daylight robbery if you ask me.

It will be interesting to see if the quality between the two will be the same. Would be hilarious if similar or not much difference between the two.

You would think Nvidia's implementation will be much better. But that is to be seen.

Thinking about an upgrade from a 3080, currently thinking about a 5080 as i dont think the 5090 will last twice as long to justify the extra cost. extra gpu grunt wanted for triple 1440p sim racing and flying.
I'd get a 4080 Super but retailers havent discounted them so although the 5080 is apparently awful, might as well get the newer card

That's a fine line there; if I run OCCT power test on my PC (specs in signature) it pulls 900w, with a 5090 it would be 1025w

With a 850w PSU, you either want to undervolt your 5090 or be very frugal with the other parts you put in your PC
Thanks. I think i’ll be ok. All i have is the 9800X3D and (hopefully) 5090, plus 2 SSDs. Usually <100w for the CPU, plus an undervolt/80% power limit on the 5090, leads me to be optimistic. But we will find out. I will at least try it before spending £150+ on a new PSU.

Is DLSS 4 releasing on the same day as the 50 series cards? And will it be immediately available for older cards too?

I'm intrigued why they didn't show both the 4090 and 5090 using the latest dlss 4 when showing it off at ces.

Yup also got the NZXT C1500 for the dedicated 12vlt cables and headroom.
Just got this one as well and installed in anticipation of getting a 5090. I bought a 1200W one from Enermax for my new build which was perfect until the fan started grinding when spinning up from idle which annoyingly was every 30s or so :D. So rather than wait for a replacement, sent it back for a refund and went all in and got the NZXT one instead.

Coming from a 3080, the 5080 will represent a decent upgrade. The discontent is arising from 4080/4090 owners, where the performance increase is probably not going to be enough to justify the financial outlay.

When using DLSS 4, the gap between the two cards is probably minimal. There can't be any other rational explanation. If there was a significant delta in performance they would have shown it.

they focused on main Blackwell-exclusive "feature" of multi frame generation
Else the whole 50 release would feel meh, both from low price-performance and almost no power efficiency progress.

the improved dlss upscaling, reflex 2 etc coming to older cards is actually the more exiting news, but doesn't help sell new cards

Hope the majority of people paying £1500+ on a 5080/5090 will have a PSU with dedicated 12VHPWR and a 12V-2x6 cable. Adaptors suck no matter what.
im using Lian Li Strimer extensions with my Corsair psu. I like the look of them so for a 50x0 card I plan to add the Nvidia cable to the end of them. with careful positioning I will make it look like the 3x PCIe is going into the gpu

I mean Nvidia's version will probably be slightly better but not £2000 better.
Don't get me wrong, lossless scaling is great. But the idea it beats out the Nvidia solution is laughable. This is however a completely separate argument to the pricing. Lossless scaling is unquestionably the better value solution. I actively use both. DLSS FG is both lower latency and has less artefacts, but this shouldn't come as a surprise, its using hardware acceleration and Nvidia's devs behind it. If you can live with the issues of LFG then by all means go and enjoy it.
