NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Is DLSS 4 releasing on the same day as the 50 series cards? And will it be immediately available for older cards too?

I'm intrigued why they didn't show both the 4090 and 5090 using the latest dlss 4 when showing it off at ces.
On there site they have said DLSS 4 is available day 0, so i assume on the 30th it will be available for all cards that can use it... you just need to have the Nvidia app to update games to DLSS 4

Don't get me wrong, lossless scaling is great. But the idea it beats out the Nvidia solution is laughable. This is however a completely separate argument to the pricing. Lossless scaling is unquestionably the better value solution. I actively use both. DLSS FG is both lower latency and has less artefacts, but this shouldn't come as a surprise, it’s using hardware acceleration and Nvidia's devs behind it. If you can live with the issues of LFG then by all means go and enjoy it.
being dirt cheap and able to work in any game on any GPU while having more modes is a pretty compelling argument for why it’s a better tech than Nvidia’s limited solution.

I am interested in the size of waterblocks for the RTX 5090. The alphacool ones look massive. I wanted to get a TUF. The EKWB for the 4090 barely fitted in my case at 153cm width and these seem perhaps bigger. Heatkiller ones seem smaller with tubes on the side but are for Palit and I don't see those listed anywhere yet.

So what he is saying is that MFG isn't introducing much more latency over what we are used to with current frame generation.

I did not think FG would be any good at all. But when I tried it was surprised by the results. Who knows, MFG might be decent too.

That said I don't use it in every game. Like for example I can hit 60fps in Silent Hill 2, but I don't use FG because it only takes me up to 80fps and I still see visual anomalies/degradation. So I don't use it. Probably would need a 4080 at least to make it work as it should is my guess.

Look forward to seeing the reviews and tech analysis of it. Might not be perfect in release and take a few months of beta testing for nvidia to get it where it needs to be.

Yes - it’s quite a good vid in the end.

He said throughout the vid and also said in the comments he was very impressed with the tech. Latency was under 55ms with over 200fps with full path tracing.

With ray tracing off it was hitting over 400 fps which was pretty insane. Think that was with DLSS.

Might not convert someone fully against the tech but it seems to be doing what it says on the tin.

I mean Nvidia's version will probably be slightly better but not £2000 better.
I've been using LS quite a bit and honestly even with a base frame rate of 40 it's butter smooth. Latency is fine for anything other than competitive or games requiring on the nose reflexes but even then...I completed Wukong using LS frame gen.

Lossless Scaling cost me 6 quid.

The PC Centric video only shows cyberpunk but in the live chat he said this:

He also said:

- he wouldn’t recommend buying if you have a 4090 and are dead against frame gen.

- he had an argument with Nvidia about vram… that nobody won lol :o :p

Edit: anyway, that is probably the best vid on 5090 performance that we have at the moment.

Saw also with DLSS but no FG on he was getting roughly 90 FPS. I can't remember what I get on my 4090 at those same settings but I think it was about 70/75 ish

Watching that GN video, I'm starting to come round on this new cooler design.

Whilst I'm not that enamoured with a 2-slot design and like that the 4090 is a total unit of a thing, I think Nvidia might just achieve miracles with this design.

If it's competitive with AIB cards on temps and noise, it's going to instantly make 4-slot coolers look rather stupid.

Poor

Two ways to look at it.

Poor in terms of upgrade path. But when has gen on gen upgrades been a good idea??

And good news as it means the previous gen 4000 series are in the fight. Meaning no need to upgrade.
