NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Amazes me that people are "planning" when we have no real world tests yet.

The 4090 is sold. Bought the Asus TUF non-oc on launch day in 2022 for 1950€ and sold it more than two years later for 1755€. So 195€ for 25 months of ownership. Best GPU I ever had.

Looking forward to a Palit/Gainward this generation because of the announced Heatkiller V Ultra waterblock: https://watercool.de/en/heatkiller-v-pro-ultra-for-palit-gainward-rtx-5090-graphics-cards/

Number 1 priority is for no coil whine / annoying fan noise, so whichever delivers that wins. I hate hate hate hate hate coil whine… but then I’m the sort of sensitive sausage that is very affected and distracted by odd chittering noises - it’s just how my brain is wired.

In hotel rooms, fridges and TVs get unplugged. Yes, really.
Your not alone. Had to change my keyboard because of a whine from it. Never thought I'd do that and it took me some time before I got it narrowed down to the keyboard cause it was the last thing to expect a whine from. It's also why my GPU originally got downclocked and I found out the wondrous benefits of down clocking on RDNA 2. Fully stock my GPU will sing almost to the point of blowing an ear drum (slightly over dramatic, only slightly). Friends of mine don't think its that bad.

Moores Law with leaks about 5080/5090 supply... apparently it's going to be pitifully low even compared to the 4th series launch.

I feel sorry for anyone who already sold their 4080/4090 as you may be waiting a long while until you have a new card to game with...

I'd suspect you have both versions implemented and it will be up to the player to use whatever works for him.

Implementation will be the main problem.
Physics shouldn't matter, the game logic still ticks at the basic frame rate, meaning physics is still calculated at 60fps even it the game shows 240fps. That extra fps is just extra smoothness, nothing more.

Nvidia has it in its own OSD from the app. It doesn't show in all the games, but I works in CB77, for instance. And no, 50ms isn't that much. You can have it with around 60fps or more, especially with v sync.

Using DLDSR, 2880x1620, DLSS Balanced and the latency can jump around 40-60ms +/- at 180-200fps with raster.

Going down to "native" 1080p with same settings, fps around 220 +/-, latency goes to 12-14 ms.

So, if you add effects or techniques, latency will increase regardless of FPS. And while you'll feel the difference between 13ms +/- to 40 ms (probably, but not guaranteed), for most it wouldn't matter.

That, of course, assuming Nvidia's software offers relatively good latency numbers.

This sounds a lot more like what I thought. So not sure what others are on about tbh.

The more I think about the 5080 the angrier I get.
It has an 80 class price tag but is a 70 class GPU.
I hope reviewers call it out but can you trust Linus and co to not tap dance around NVIDIA?

Did you pop into McDonalds while you waited for it to be tested? That's what I do lol.
I bet the people around you were like holy f*ck knuckles. A Grand for that thing. :)
Not maccies this time as was on lunch break, but yeah you’re bang on there was a lady trading in Fifa 19 for the Xbox as well as a bunch of other stuff came to about £4.50 in total. When they saw me whip the 4090 box out of the primark bag and heard it was £1000 they looked speechless

Good show. Where on earth did you sell a TUF for that amount, and more importantly, who on earth is paying that amount for a 2 year-old used 4090 at this point?

That's a lot of value for 195€ net.

That shouldn't be a factor, unless i'm misunderstanding or very dense (which is quite possible). Even going from 100-160fps using DLSS3 in Stalker 2 feels awful. The extra latency no matter the base fps and the resulting fps feels terrible in a first person game. I get very smooth fps without DLSS3 in any game i play 150-240 fps and no frame gen & g-sync as I don't have the extra latency making me feel like i'm playing at 30fps on PS5.

At least my gas bill will go down during the winters moving forwards.
Mine heats my room nicely when gaming. Very economical

Probably one of those sellers who meticulously open the packaging on a gpu so they seal it up again and say it’s brand new, I see quite a lot of that these days.

What is jayz not telling us...?

If accurate I am surprised nobody else has been calling this out. Based on current performance estimates it looks like Nvidia are pushing everything below the 5090 up one tier on pricing.

- Old 80 class is now gone
- 70 Ti tier renamed to 80 class for $200 more
- 70 tier now renamed to 70 Ti for $150 more
- 60 Ti tier now renamed to 70 for $150 more.

Even the 5090 is giving similar price/perf to a 4090 because it has had a 25% MSRP increase.

They've been doing it progressively each generation for awhile, I've posted about it quite a bit but some people even defend it :(
