NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

As much as I like DF content and the way they present benchmarks, I can't help but feel disappointed with their coverage over the past few years. It's been spotty at best, especially on the CPU side. They missed a fair few parts, like the 7800X3D and other launches. Honestly makes me feel a little sus as to whey they weren't doing some reviews. Also the comparisons they make nowadays, aren't always complete or showing the most relevant parts at all the resolutions, etc.

I sure hope with these upcoming GPUs, they do release thorough reviews, showing the complete info.
I agree they are not great at hardware reviews (if they do them at all) and can't argue with your other points. I go to others for that, namely GN and HUB. The former for a more technical and complete view, and the latter for benchmarks. I like DF's technical analysis of games and software features more than anything.

What is true is the 5090 FE cooler is pretty amazing build wise, if it cools the card well we will have to see
Yeah I'm very excited for 5090 FE, if it's really 30-35db, it will be the card everyone wants. Hope it doesn't have any fan QA issues such as wobbling or humming though, need a few good reviews to test such things first!

5090 FE or Astral for me, would prefer FE if it's quiet and good quality.

My assumption is that the FE will give similar performance to the much bigger cards.

… which means the card is great for small builds, but offers no benefit for anyone rocking a giant case*. Other than a cheaper price.

*Maybe! That’s just my guess.

If FE does give similar performance and similar noise levels to AIB cards, then it'll offer many benefits.

Easy to install, fits in any case and of course higher resale value. Going to be hard to sell big huge 5090's if the perform identically to the tiny FE.

That said I still think the AIB cards will be quieter, how much quieter is the question!

The Chinese review that was posted on here the other day noted the 5090D was power limited, hence the lower clocks. So what will performance be like at 700w? Maybe it will show a larger increase over a higher power limit on the 4090, which gave virtually no additional performance. If so, the FE may begin to struggle.

I think it may not necessarily be that great for some smaller builds because the double flow through design will dump the heat into the CPU cooler, rather than kicking it out the back of the PC. If the GPU can dump the air straight outside the case instead or if you have an AIO it might be fine.
I'm also wondering how much of that 575W~ is "reserved" for the AI cores...

It's absolutely perfect for smaller cases, thanks to it's small size. It will literally fit into cases that the larger 5090's can't.

If anything, the increased airflow will help the CPU cooler, as well as providing good airflow to motherboard VRM's etc.

I think people are using Cyberpunk as a lightning rod for their issue with FG. It's just this generations' Crysis. I for one welcome optional, taxing, graphical settings being included in AAA games. If there's no demand for this stuff, progression will get slowed.
Agree. It is great that a studio is willing to create such as game, and quite frankly, that Nvidia is willing to work with them and use it as a test bed for the latest tech. Looking forward to seeing what comes in Witcher 4. Hopefully CDPR will be doing something similar.

If i remember correctly the 30 and 40 series both had reviews come out the day before release and the prices are always shown at 2pm on release for AIB's.
If anything there is more out there this time than there has been for the last 2 generations
then why has nvidia published their FE prices and the aftermarkets staying zipped for now?

AIB prices always come out much later, usually just 1-2 days before if the 30 series and 40 series launches are anything to go by. You will see retailers update prices then and unlikely any sooner. Having said that.... as reviews are earlier this year, reviewers will surely need to know the price on any AIB card they review.
