NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

RT and the accompanying technologies is where the performance is. We can see that because the biggest bump in hardware is in the ai tops performance.

So you're focusing on the wrong thing.

Once people see how much better it is at RT all this raster comparisons will get forgotten.

Let's just guess something like 20% rasta + 50% RT performance improvement.

Suddenly those games that are hard to run like Black Myth Wukong amaze as they run so much better now on the 5000 series.
kinda agree tbh. Raytracing is in almost all new AAA releases at this point. Its prevalence is only going to increase as time goes on. Making the differences even more noticeable (if these results are accurate)

Yeah the main 5090 use case is pushing frames at 4K with ray-tracing.

If you’re not interested in ray-tracing or you’re not pushing 4k then upgrading to 5090 might be a bit pointless if you already have a 40 series card.

Do you think the 16gb cards are fine for some 4k gaming here and there but mostly messing around with AI apps etc..? I haven't gamed properly in years, lost some interest.. but still like messing with programs, might be one or two games I'll try at some point though.

may be smaller
Will. Only single digit game numbers leave launch day in a somewhat optimised state. As per another comment oon here I can only think of 3 games the last 2 years or so that were optimised at launch. Every other game has issues with one or more of the following: Frame time, frame pacing, CPU multi threading, GPU utilisation, traversal stuttering, shader stuttering and more.

Agree. I’m quite happy that the recent big releases have not interested me at all. Imagine pre-ordering games in 2025. For fools!

its fine in most cases. 16gb is more than fine for todays games, it just might not be in future. For reference, my gf still has a 3080ti and games at 4k on that with no issues

But think of the Devs, do you really want them to work that hard? Nobody needs optimisations, it's pulling us back to the past! ;)

We're almost going that direction with GPUs. Launch day review embargo for the 5080? If it's the same time as the launch, you don't have time to read the reviews if you want to get one in the first or second batch. Awful practice.

Really curious to see how the 5090 FE performs in terms of temperature and noise, tomorrow is going to be an interesting day

I'll think about it once I've seen reviews but given the very modest increases the leaks are showing and the prices being asked I'm considering giving this gen a skip. Maybe I'll upgrade my laptop instead.
