NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Well no not REAL people. basement dwellers. :p

Same people that claimed it would only get 28fps in cyberpunk which meant even the 3080 was faster. :p ignoring the fact that was with path tracing on and every setting to max.
I tried that without dlss and my game went to 1fps with my 3080 just to test, was horrific trying to turn it back off.
On Reddit someone predicted that his 4080 would have more performance than a 5090 if you only looked at raster and not the ‘AI stuff’.

I asked if he thought this would definitely be the case knowing the CUDA core count was more than double…

Not sure if this has been mentioned so far, but TechPowerUp are showing a relatively small but not completely insignificant advantage for Blackwell in the performance hit going from CNN to Transformer DLSS - in Cyberpunk with RT enabled/Quality mode, 5090 only loses about 4% (96 vs 92fps) but 4090 loses 14% (78 vs 67, Transformer Balanced at 80fps is only slightly faster than CNN Quality). Haven't seen any more numbers comparing DLSS performance but would be interested if anyone comes across any.

If the 5080 uplift over 4080 is as much as 20% (which I think is about as optimistic as anyone is willing to be on current evidence), and if this advantage is accurate and consistent, and if 5080 availability is somehow not a complete disaster...then the 5080 may not be too far behind 4090 with upscaling, at a more attractive price given that used 4090 prices seem to be remaining extremely high. Though referring to the ComputerBase review again, it looks like DLSS4 isn't necessarily better than 3 in all scenarios at present.
These are very good points.
I think Daniel Owens vid does a comparison of Transformer vs CNN.

I reckon 5080 is on my hitlist now and then to not hang onto it for too long. Just that 16GB feels like a smack in the face when you have 24 already, and games are pushing 16 already.

This is the annoying part. Most reviewers don't even do dlss benchmarks where 99% of people buying one are gonna use it

But you could also argue 30-series owners are now sitting there asking why they didn't just get a 4090 rather than "skipping a gen".
Well I doubt someone uses a 3060 is going to take a leap to a 4090. Which is why the trickle down performance in the low/mid end GPU's are important and not just the super high end

Your mixing all kind of things together to prove your point. No one, sane or even slightly unbalanced, would claim that the 3080 would be faster than a 5090 in cyberpunk. That original FPS number was from nvidia 5090 product page and was measured against nvidias own numbers back when the 4090 launched. It was done to gauge the generational uplift which now is confirmed to be rather disappointing considering the increased price tag. So perhaps be a bit more honest instead of all that mental gymnastics you got going there.

Depressing to see my 3090 doesn't even make it onto some of the comparison charts  . Need an upgrade but it won't be a 5090, Nvidia can jog right on with that price.
Unless you're looking for an exact 3rd party card (Asus, Gigabyte etc) then this can't be too bad for a summary. The 3090 and Ti are right here...

What will you upgrade to?

Anyways how often is there a 80% uplift in raster performance from one gen to another?

i dont remember the 900 to 1000 to 2000 to 3000 being over even 50% increase?
