NVIDIA 5000 SERIES

Bloke with a 480hz monitor says he is more than happy with 60fps. GTFO. I’m calling the rozzers on you, Sir. :D
I should caveat that saying totally game dependant  I'm more than happy at 60fps in games like Elden Ring, Final Fantasy Remake/ Rebirth etc basically single player games.. something that isn't competitive and just want it looking as good as possible in the highest resolution which gets played on the 4k/120 screen but anything remotely competitive and where reaction times matters then the higher the native fps I can run the better ... mfg not interested in it in this case scenario:cry:

My expectations from a new generation is to make our *money* faster.

If we got x performance for y dollars in the last gen, I want >x performance for the same y dollars this gen. If not, it's stagnation or worse, regression.

That's what makes this gen a disappointment in my view.

The uplift at 5080 tier and below has been available for you for about two years year at a similar price. Even the 5090 is offering nothing on price/performance ratio over a 4090 and you could have had one of those over two years ago.

So respectfully, no it really isn’t much better than you could have already been running as far as price/performance and power efficiency are concerned.

Not only that your 3000 series card would have got you a lot more used a year or two ago.

I’m not getting at you both personally, but pointing out the mediocrity that Nvidia are offering for this generation. I think everyone expected more from Nvidia typically for a new gen uplift.

It's so obvious with hindsight!!

The 50 series ended up cheaper than rumours suggested for FE, so maybe 60 will be just the same.
A lot of the rumours were from AIB pricing and those are probably not going to be far off the mark.

FE cards were a bit cheaper but then again performance is looking worse than a lot of the early rumours were suggesting.

Haha, i'm pulling your leg. I like I minimum of 80-90ish for any game (higher if first person), unless it is MSFS 2020/2024, then I can go a bit later. I am quite happy to lower settings and use DLSS to get to that level if required.

Along with “I won’t be upgrading” thanks for coming to the 50 series thread to let us know you’re not buying. ( not you personally either just a lot of 40 series owners keep coming here to let us know) some of us 30 series owners are looking forward to the 100-120% uplift but gets draining reading the constant negativity. We get it, compared to the amazing 40 series it’s not much of an uplift. 30 - 40 was a big leap in node change, this is on the same node, so nvidia have done what they can, it’s basically a 40series+ which some of us are fine with

i'm the same. 4k 120hz screen, but with games like cyberpunk etc I don;t turn settings to play at 120, I just play at 60fps... cause what does it matter?

Out of interest, do you play at 60fps with a mouse and keyboard? I find that unbearable. It's slightly better with controller as it is less direct.
any first person game I play with mouse and keyboard, (I find it perfectly fine to play.) any third person I play with controller.
I grew up with a spectrum where some games felt like 1fps, (I know they weren't actually 1fps) so and i'm happy playing at "lower framerates".
Don't get me wrong, I will always play with higher framerates if I can, I just won't compromise most settings (and certainly not resolution) to get there.
:p

The 4000 series was not all that bar the stupidly expensive 4090. Same with 5090. Enjoy paying 2k for your 100% uplift.

Yeah, I feel like people forgot the reaction to the 4080. That GPU which performed like 45-50% better than a 3080, at almost double the price with a MSRP of like £1269 or something silly. They had to drop the price because no one bought it.

Not to say I think the 5080 is great value for money either, but the goalpost got moved so far with the 4080 here we are. AMD aren't even a factor anymore in this price/performance bracket either.

There's a reason so many people got a 4090 really, and it was because it honestly was the only card which felt like it offered some kinda value at launch. In hindsight I do wish I had, but couldn't have know that at the time, and honestly I had other things going on so it wasn't at the top of my priority list.

What are you upgrading from/to that gives a 100-120% uplift?
