With the way things are going, it might even go up in value!I’m going straight for the ASUS Astral. I’m hoping most people aren’t as stupid and might go for the cheaper options.

thats becuase its been 6 months since Nvidia have stopped producing them, so now you have 6 months worth of market wanting to get a GPU on release day, and I think theres a bigger market from people who use 5090s 80s for work than gaming, the amount of professional studios using gamer cards to save money instead of professional GPU's is very high, Ive been to content creation studios, architects ect all using gaming machines for professional workloads, hundreds of work stations all loaded with gaming cards instead of profesional cardsUnfortunately, I'm pretty sure the 5090's won't struggle to sell at a profit. Even 2 year old used 4090's are selling for at least their RRP and in some cases a profit.
Thinking of getting a 5070ti if possible or a second hand 4070ti to keep price down as budget is tight. Do we think the 5070ti will have a big enough boost over the 4070ti to justify it?
10fe cards all earmarked for scalpers and everyone else squabbling over a few dozen ridiculously overpriced AIB cards.whats the latest, 4 days till 5090 release and price exposure
Whats it gonna be like this release? day one sell out? FE mass scalpn? people spending an extra £500 just to get a 5090, gonna be 6 months of customers wanting to bag a card, wont be enough to go around or plenty to go around? there is no solid info
ooofI’m going straight for the ASUS Astral. I’m hoping most people aren’t as stupid and might go for the cheaper options.
Exactly. From their perspective (studios), the 5090 offers tremendous value. And will continue to do so for a while.thats becuase its been 6 months since Nvidia have stopped producing them, so now you have 6 months worth of market wanting to get a GPU on release day, and I think theres a bigger market from people who use 5090s 80s for work than gaming, the amount of professional studios using gamer cards to save money instead of professional GPU's is very high, Ive been to content creation studios, architects ect all using gaming machines for professional workloads, hundreds of work stations all loaded with gaming cards instead of profesional cards
He's probably the only human left that could compete with Jensen. At the moment though, he's one of Jensen's best customers!Maybe Elon Musk should get in the GPU market instead of space, Nvidia needs an opponent

What we need is someone else making AI accelerators that are far better at the tasks than gaming cards, similar to how ASICS replaced GPUs for BTC mining. With the monies involved I’m sure there will be many companies working on stuff.ooof
£2800 vs £1999
I was thinking on strix or amp extreme, Im hoping it to be £2300 tops, dunno man this release is covered in secrecy its like I dont know what to expect, I just dont like the way Nvidia works now, they are to powerful with zero competition
AMD bowed out and Intel is years behind
Maybe Elon Musk should get in the GPU market instead of space, Nvidia needs an opponent

That might be it, though there are other uses than just AI that might need more vRAM in semi-Pro market. Apparently new video encoders are an important thing too - not to me, but to some.Sure. But I think they had to give it 32GB, as that's what will entice the AI market (even those who own a 4090). If you're a gamer on a 4090, there's no reason for you to buy a 5090.
Yeah but they get to be punished by Daddy Asus.I'm unsure why anyone still wants the astral. The MSI Suprim looks better, its fans are much quieter, it runs at lower temps and its $400 cheaper

I sell my previous 4090 system and with the money I made, I’m only paying for the gpu every 2 years.I'm unsure why anyone still wants the astral. The MSI Suprim looks better, its fans are much quieter, it runs at lower temps and its $400 cheaper
pretty awesome result from 75% power limit and +250MHz on core
So true, after the 4090 selling out, I knew any future launches were more than likely to be the same, and I'm fairly certain the next several generations will be the same, demand for these chips just aren't coming from gamers anymore, there's miners and AI crew in the mix now while supply has gone down.Yep. Very similar to these very forums a few months back where people were saying the days of limited PC stock were over and it was only due to covid and the mining boom etc, and that upcoming CPU's like the 9800x3d and the 5000 series would be plentiful. anyone that said otherwise were moaned at for being negative. hmmmm funny how that one turned out.
Honestly, it's less on the price and more on my experience with Asus being terrible for every product I've bought lolI’m going straight for the ASUS Astral. I’m hoping most people aren’t as stupid and might go for the cheaper options.
Yup, it's a completely different world now, graphics cards demand is through the roof and the supply is going down. It's why people were able to sell their 4090s at almost cost 2 years laterthats becuase its been 6 months since Nvidia have stopped producing them, so now you have 6 months worth of market wanting to get a GPU on release day, and I think theres a bigger market from people who use 5090s 80s for work than gaming, the amount of professional studios using gamer cards to save money instead of professional GPU's is very high, Ive been to content creation studios, architects ect all using gaming machines for professional workloads, hundreds of work stations all loaded with gaming cards instead of profesional cards
