Thats why I'm not doing it this time. I'm just bypassing the GPU in my loop and only upgrading if I can get an FE 5090

I'll keep my sapphire 7900xtx nitro absolute brilliant card for the £900 I paid, still plays my games above 100fps. Just bought the Asus 32" 4k OLED which is like a graphics upgrade in itself.

I tested my 7900XT in VR (Quest 3) earlier in AMS2 sim racing. Was able to run max res at 90Hz lcoked with medium MSAA and other settings on medium, in a race with 10 other cars on track. Only thing a 5090 would give me is higher settings in game and 120 Hz probably which isn't really needed.

If this is the performance we expect each generation, menial uplift of a few percent... forget it and for a grand, come on!

It is, but it also saves a lot of time and effort, and you don't run the risk of damaging the card trying to install one yourself, etc., while still retaining your warranty.

There will always be a significant premium for that kind of thing.

Gainward and Palit are under the same company, I believe. They've got a Euro distribution centre as well.

It is hilarious that 5090 prices aren’t up anywhere. Any stock on site for the launch will have been paid for by the retailer and so the selling price will be known. It is just whoever can blink last.

I will blink last, I will ensure this by falling asleep just before 2pm and missing all releases!
