Nvidia 6600 whats the performance like?

i have just been given an AGP GF6600 256Mb, havent tried it yet, but i thought i would ask if anyone would care to give some indication of its performance, hase anyone use one? was it ok?

similar to a 9800 Pro?

if it has a 128bit memory interface then at resolutions like 1024x768 the 6600 will be a lot faster than the 9800pro. but at higher resolutions the 256bit memory interface may start pulling away from the 6600.

try a game like doom 2 and you will see a MASSIVE difference between the 2 cards.

but for the best test, run deep freeze in 3dm06 on both cards and see what the framerates are

Just tested one, a 6600GT. Almost the same as my 12 pipeline X800 , maybe a little quicker.

why not test using 06??

Neither the 6600 nor 9800pro are really fast cards & will be best suited to current or older games (not next gen). This is best simulated by 3DMark 05.
If you use these cards you wont be playing the latest games & neither of these cards will cope well with next gen games & that is what 3DMark 06 is simulating. Most current & older games dont have SM3 support & this makes 3DMark 06 biased towards the Nvidia card.


In short i think 3DMark 05 is a better representation of what both cards will be used for.
