basicly my missus's mums son unplugged all the pc and now when turned on nothing is on the screen, i took the pc off him to test it out and basicly ive came to the conclusion that its the dvi socket on the 6600gt. when vga to dvi adapter is plugged in and the vga lead in to that i think over the last 6 - 12 months its bent the dvi socket?? so now when u use it it needs a wiggle and to be kept in the same position overwise the screen goes off

is there any fix for these? im handy with soldering ect or is it worth a ebay or even putting in the bin

thanks to all who reply

Cheers

HAPPY XMAS!!

Bloody hell, just get a new card. :)

There's a 6800 ULTRA currently at 25 quid on fleabay if you want to keep it old-skool like. :p

Otherwise grab a 7600GT for 40 notes if that.

i know its an old school card and i can grab a new one for peanuts! Its not about the money at all!! I have a 2600xt sitting about doing nothing and also am upgrading myself aswell but was looking for a way to fix this if there is one at all? would come in handy as a backup card for someone if anything should happen with family or friends pcs!

thanks
