Nvidia 7300 HDMI to LCD - Resolution/Quality Problem!

Hi, im trying to connect my computer to my Samsung LCD tv but i am having problems with the resolution.

My gfx card has a HDMI output (is MSI 7300 series card) and i connect this straight into the tv. The screen comes up but the screen edges are cropped, and the display looks a bit naff to be honest.

I am running the latest drivers from nvidias website. On the nvidia control panel i set the output format to hdmi 720p (which is what my tv is). I then click set to native resolution of the samsung (which is 1360 x 768). I click ok, the screen looks much nicer but it is cropped.

I then reduce the resoltion incrementaly until i can see the full desktop, i am able to when i reach 1176 x 664, however the picture isnt quite as sharp as i would like, plus there is some unused screen space at the screen edges.

The thing is with the VGA input to the tv i can run it at 1360 x 768 and it looks very very good, apart from some slight tearing when watching movies and fast moving scenes.

Any idea how i can get the hdmi to work good? I thought buying an hdmi output capable card would avoid all this hassle, i wanted it to just be simple like plugging in an xbox to the tv and getting a nice picture!

Do i have to use tweak tools? I cant see an option (even with advanced mode) under the nvidia control panel to create custom resolutions.

i dunno about the 1:1 mapping, good call though ill check it tonight.

i thought hdmi would work fine, how wrong i was! i dont understand the difference to be honest, xbox works fine in 720p i just wish my pc was as simple. The 7300 supports hdmi connection and HDCP also, i dont actually why the pic is so carp!

forgot to say im running vista ultimate and i dont think the current nvidia drivers are capable of overscan correction (

im thinking this will be sorted in future driver versions? for the meantime i may just stick with the VGA i know i can get 1360 x 768 and it looks sweet.

It won't be sorted, this is a problem with your TV's hdmi input that cannot be fixed.

As I said already there's a simple fix. Just use the VGA input.

Whats a 32" LCD TV which will work then?

I tend to get tearign when watching videos on my laptop through the VGA, havent tried it on my 7300GS yet.
