You've lost me there, ive said nothing about buying a Dx10 card for Dx10 there, all ive said is the 8600 is a Dx10 card, as it is.
No but you have done before, I thought you would remember :o

Go for the 1950pro or xt
it will last you long and are very good cards
the only failure rates that are bad with the pros and xt are from HIS so stay away from them

those cards ar already out of date. can;t even play stalker with hdr turned on at 1024x768 without seriously choppy framerate.

Do you have any knowledge of the new GFX cards coming?

If you did then you would notice that what you are suggesting is daft.

a 8800gts struggles at stalker

and you said thast dx10 is not important
the 8600 will perform about the same as a 1950xt
so whats the difference?

My GTS doesn't struggle at Stalker. :)

Besides its not the cards its the actual game, you can't blame any card for a poorly programmed game as the graphics cards have got nothing to do with it.

Same :D

Anyways from earlier ont he nly x1950pros that have problems are of the HIS variety! Mines was solid :P and also driver issues were what stopped them clocking :D

Ahh, another brilliant and insightful thread with LoadsaMoney, easyrider and Cyber-Mav educating us about DirectX 10 cards, the fun never stops!

Now all we need is for the Welsh/Elven chap to come along and the party's rocking!

if there's new tech just around the corner it is always worth waiting a few weeks to see exactly what's what. the x1950's are good buys at that price right now, but what if the 8600 comes out and shows it a clean pair of heels at the same price point? you'd have just wasted your money.

just wait for the 8600's to arrive, then make a decision. forgot all this 'this is dx10, that is dx9' nonsense.

Its not about Dx10, the 8 series are for Dx9, just forget about Dx10, if you want a card for Dx10 then dont buy an 8 series, wait till Dx10 is here and then get a Dx10 card as faster/better ones will be out, buy the 8 series for Dx9, the now, there is no point wasting money on an x1950/7900 when you can get a card for around the same price, or not much more that will totally blow it away in speed, iq, everything in Dx9, and will be re-saleable, if your buying an x1950/7900 etc... your buying a doorstop as you wont shift it, plus its a fact, your buying old tech. :)
