A friend of mine has one of these, well he's had 2 running SLI but wants to upgrade.

What would be a nice upgrade for him? He's got a Quad Core CPU and 4Gb RAM.

Mainly plays Starcraft 2 and WOW but will play other games too.

I'm out of the GFX card scene so I can't really recommend him one.

What games does he play and also what res?

a 5770 would be a good upgrade.

Maybe a GTX 460 if he can stretch to it
