My Xpertvision 8600GT has an idle temp of 50c which I've read is quite normal but as most of you I want my PC to be as cool as possible. I was thinking of getting the Zerotherm GX815 when it's in stock. Would that be ok or is there a better cooler?

Also in the meantime would it be worthwhile taking the stock heatsink off, clean off the thermal compound and replace it with some Arctic Cooling MX-1 I have lying around? Would using another thermal comound make a big difference?
