no i'm affraid you need to use both, it does say so in the literature that came with it, it does come with the adaptors tho.

my bfg gtx had the adaptors in the box i can't vouch for any of the other card's but i presume they will as not many people have them as standard with their power suply

I only had one plugged into my BFG 8800GTX and it ran like an old 7200 Turbo Cache
